Technician (Reefer)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of a Reefer Technician is to perform plugging/unplugging operations and temperature monitoring of reefer (refrigerated) containers in container yards at PSA Container Terminal. The role requires strong safety awareness, accurate status recording via tablet, and the ability to respond to operational exceptions such as temperature irregularities and faulty cables.

JOB DUTIES

• Prior to the commencement of operations, ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn, including uniforms, safety helmets, safety shoes, reefer gloves, and any other necessary safety gear.

• Perform plugging and unplugging of reefer containers.

• Use a tablet to record and update plugging/unplugging status accurately.

• Conduct temperature monitoring duties for reefer containers and identify irregularities.

• Complete plugging/unplugging duties within stipulated time requirements depending on operational needs.

• Carry out specific tasks such as repairing/replacing faulty cables upon request (where applicable).

• Report to PSA on any exceptions during a tour of duty, including temperature irregularities, faulty cables, and any other issues requiring attention.

• Work safely and efficiently by adhering to standard operating procedures and complying with safety rules and regulations in operational areas.

JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining strict safety compliance.

• Take necessary safety precautions to prevent accidents/incidents.

• Report any damages, incidents, or near-misses to the superior immediately.

• Attend toolbox briefings prior to commencement of work.

• Observe all instructions and duties briefed by the direct superior.

• Comply with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Observe and comply with all Workplace Safety standards, protocols, duties, and responsibilities in accordance with the assigned workplace/department.

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS

• Must be physically fit and able to perform manual duties for extended periods.

• Able to work in all weather conditions (outdoor operational environment).

• Job requires substantial walking and frequent climbing up/down stairs within the container yard.

• Able to work rotating shifts (Day & Night).

• Shift duration: 12 hours per shift.
