Vessel Chartering Executive (Petrochemical)

Our client is a major Oil & Gas commodity trading firm headquartered in China, with a significant presence in the downstream energy sector. They are currently expanding their chartering team and are seeking a Vessel Chartering Executive to support their growing operations.

Reporting to the Head of Chartering, the incumbent will be working in a team of 5 staffs. He / She will be responsible for fixing vessels and negotiating competitive rates and terms for the company. Key responsibilities include managing chartering disputes, overseeing the operational aspects of vessels fixed by the company, and developing the chartering market. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, operators, and chartering counterparts, as well as managing existing client accounts and developing new business opportunities. In addition, the incumbent will ensure smooth execution of shipments and coordinate closely with brokers, charterers, and port terminals.

Open to candidates with transferable experience from the Oil & Gas commodity trading, shipping, or maritime sectors, even if they do not have direct chartering experience.

REQUIREMENTS

• Min a Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field
• At least 5 years of working experience in the bulk shipping operations
• Strong understanding of shipping & chartering operations, with good commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• Familiar with chartering mechanisms and market practices within the shipping industry
• Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin are required to liaise with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties
