Job Description - WAREHOUSING DEPARTMENT MANAGER

The Warehousing Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfilment, dispatch, manpower planning, safety compliance and daily operational performance. The role requires strong leadership, planning and coordination skills to ensure smooth, accurate and timely warehouse activities.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise daily warehouse operations, including inbound and outbound goods movement.

Plan, organise and monitor warehouse workflow to ensure operational efficiency and timely delivery.

Oversee receiving, checking, storage, picking, packing and dispatch activities.

Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper stock control procedures are followed.

Coordinate with logistics, procurement, sales, operations and delivery teams to meet customer and business requirements.

Manage warehouse manpower deployment, duty rosters, attendance and work performance.

Train, guide and supervise warehouse staff to ensure productivity and compliance with company procedures.

Ensure proper handling, storage and movement of goods to prevent damage, loss or discrepancies.

Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.

Monitor warehouse space utilisation and implement proper storage methods.

Ensure all warehouse equipment, tools and materials are properly maintained and used safely.

Implement and maintain warehouse safety, housekeeping and security standards.

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly warehouse reports for management review.

Investigate inventory discrepancies, operational delays and customer complaints, and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace safety regulations and operational standards.

Support process improvement initiatives to improve warehouse productivity, cost control and service quality.

Job Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Business Management or related field.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse, logistics or supply chain operations.

At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience in warehouse operations.

Strong knowledge of warehouse management, inventory control and logistics coordination.

Able to lead and manage warehouse teams effectively.

Good planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Able to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.

Good communication and coordination skills.

Knowledge of warehouse management systems, inventory software or ERP systems will be an advantage.

Familiar with workplace safety, warehouse housekeeping and stock control procedures.

Able to prepare reports and maintain proper documentation.

Physically fit and willing to work in a warehouse environment when required.

Responsible, disciplined, detail-oriented and able to work independently.

Preferred Skills

Experience in logistics, distribution, freight forwarding, construction materials, manufacturing or FMCG warehouse operations.

Knowledge of forklift operations, safety procedures and warehouse equipment handling.

Ability to improve warehouse workflow, reduce operational errors and support cost-saving initiatives.

Working Conditions

The employee may be required to work in a warehouse environment and coordinate with different departments, suppliers, transporters and customers. The role may require overtime, weekend or public holiday work depending on operational needs.
