Technical Superintendent (Oil Tankers)

Role:

Technical and Safety Management

• Oversee all technical and safety matters concerning company vessels.
• Implement the company’s technical and safety policies on these vessels.

Maintenance and Servicing

• Conduct repair, maintenance, and servicing of vessels as directed by the Technical Manager.
• Advise the Master and Chief Engineer on planned maintenance and tasks to be performed by the ship’s staff.
• Inspect vessel’s machinery spaces for cleanliness and maintenance progress.

Survey and Reporting

• Negotiate with Class Surveyors for onboard surveys and report findings to the Technical Manager.
• Perform damage surveys on vessels and complete necessary costings, reports, accounts, and abstracts.

Port Supervision

• Travel to ports as instructed by the Technical Manager to supervise repairs and restoration of vessels and equipment.
• Handle all technical matters locally and all issues related to repairs, servicing, and dispatch of vessels during dry-docking or visits.

Regulatory Compliance

• Prepare additional proposals for new regulations with the approval of the Regulatory Authority or Recognized Organization.
• Ensure ships meet regulatory requirements.

Cadet Training

• Act as a liaison officer and trainer for Cadet Officers from Singapore Polytechnic.

Inspection and Reporting

• Conduct general inspections of vessels and report findings to the Technical Manager.
• Ensure the maintenance of safety equipment meets legislative requirements and company standards.
• Submit and monitor budgets for areas of expenditure responsibility and report variances.
• Report relevant information about sea-going personnel to the Technical Manager.

Requirements:

• COC Class 1 or 2 holders with sailing experience on oil tankers.
• Foreign-going Chief Engineer with sea experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects with good organizational skills.
