Head of Quality ($15k to $20k)

About the Opportunity

An established manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Head of Quality to lead its quality strategy and operational excellence initiatives. This leadership role is responsible for driving quality management, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and organisational performance across manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to strengthen quality systems, improve operational efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement the organisation's quality vision, strategy, policies and objectives to support business growth and operational excellence.
• Lead and mentor the quality team while promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer focus.
• Partner with business leaders to align quality initiatives with organisational objectives.

Quality Management Systems

• Lead the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer and industry standards.
• Establish effective quality governance, controls and risk management processes.

Continuous Improvement

• Drive enterprise-wide quality improvement and cost optimisation initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma and other recognised quality methodologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce defects and enhance operational efficiency.
• Champion root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programmes.

Customer Quality

• Lead customer quality initiatives, including complaint management, corrective actions and after-sales quality performance.
• Build strong customer relationships by ensuring timely resolution of quality issues and continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.

Quality Assurance & Control

• Develop and strengthen quality assurance and quality control frameworks across manufacturing operations.
• Lead internal and external audits, product and process audits, and supplier quality initiatives.
• Ensure products consistently meet quality, regulatory and customer requirements.

Performance & Compliance

• Monitor quality performance through KPIs, dashboards and data analytics to support business decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with applicable workplace safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Support workplace excellence and continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, including experience leading quality teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and regulatory compliance.
• Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.

Preferred Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience within medical device manufacturing or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
• Working knowledge of one or more recognised quality and regulatory standards, such as: FDA 21 CFRISO 13485ISO 9001ISO 14001IATF 16949VDA 6.3Other relevant industry quality management systems
