Senior/Project Manager

Job description

1. Strategy

1. Supports the BU in strategic projects and in the implementation of the strategy.
2. Supports the introduction and further development of project management concepts and capabilities.
3. Based on existing standards at SCHOTT and other companies, establishes suitable settings and approaches for defining, planning, implementing, and documenting projects within BU EP.
4. Acts as a sparring partner for other project managers within the organization.

2. Project Planning

1. Plans international and/or interdisciplinary projects in coordination with the steering committee and the project sponsor.
2. Defines sub-projects and work packages.
3. Assembles the project team and sub-project teams from employees at the sites, the BUs, adjacent disciplines, and, where required, employees from external organizations, institutes, or universities.
4. Takes responsibility for the schedule- and target-oriented planning of projects, including the definition of project phases, milestones, and key performance indicators, and aligns these with the relevant stakeholders. Plans and tracks the project budget as well as the timing and content-related progress of the project.

3. Project Execution

1. Communicates all relevant parameters, such as project objectives, to the respective project and sub-project participants.
2. Leads projects, assigns and coordinates tasks, and provides methodological guidance and, where necessary, content-related guidance to the sub-project and work package owners.
3. Manages, monitors, and follows up on project-relevant activities.
4. Conducts time- and results-oriented progress reviews.
5. Represents the projects to the steering committee.
6. Decides on the need to involve external resources and manages their engagement accordingly.
7. Ensures contractual, economic, and patent-related protection of technologies and developments within the projects.
8. Ensures achievement of the project objectives in terms of time, cost, and quality through planning based on QM requirements.
9. Conducts projects in accordance with SCHOTT requirements and ensures that the milestone results defined during planning are achieved properly and on schedule.
10. Documents project results in accordance with QM requirements.

4. Project Controlling

1. Documents project progress, prepares the results, and presents them.
2. Reports on project progress to the steering committee and line managers.

5. Legal Requirements

1. Implements the requirements of the occupational health, safety, and environmental protection system within the area of responsibility.
2. Monitors compliance with legal and company regulations regarding occupational safety, accident prevention, environmental protection, and the proper handling and processing of materials.

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Business Administration.
2. At least 5 years of professional experience in an international industrial environment and/or strategy consulting, with focus on Operations, Operational Excellence (OpEx), Engineering, Technology, and/or Corporate Strategy.
3. Business-level proficiency in English, with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
4. Advanced project management experience with proficiency in relevant IT tools IPMA certification is an advantage.
5. Excellent communication and collaboration skills
6. Solid understanding of Operational Excellence (OpEx) principles.
