Assistant Editor – Regional Trade Publication (F&B Industry)

Are you a versatile editorial professional with a talent for translating complex technical concepts into compelling narratives? We are seeking an Assistant Editor to join the regional authority for the Asia Pacific food and beverage industry.

As the authority over four decades, our publication has been the leading voice for industry professionals, delivering critical insights on food processing technology, innovative ingredients, packaging solutions, and food safety regulations. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our editorial excellence, balancing high-level editorial coordination with hands-on technical writing.

Core Responsibilities

• End-to-End Content Ownership: Research and author high-quality, "industry-savvy" articles, market reports, and features for both print and digital formats.
• Editorial Strategy & Quality: Oversee the editorial pipeline to ensure technical accuracy and a consistent authoritative voice across all platforms. This includes sub-editing, proofreading, and quality control.
• Production Management: Lead the development of content according to monthly print flatplans, managing the production cycle to ensure all deadlines are met with precision.
• Industry Engagement: Conduct exclusive interviews with industry thought leaders, innovators, and suppliers to bring fresh, authoritative perspectives to our global readership.
• Multi-Platform Content Growth: Drive engagement across our digital ecosystem, including the website, newsletters, and social media, while staying ahead of emerging trends and innovations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with contributors and experts to translate dense technical concepts into content that is accessible and relevant to F&B manufacturing professionals.

Qualifications

• Proven Editorial Record: At least 3–5 years of experience in a writing or editorial role, preferably within a trade, technical, or specialised B2B publication.
• Production Knowledge: Direct experience handling professional digital and print editorial cycles and working within the constraints of a physical magazine flatplan.
• Technical Literacy: A strong background or genuine interest in food science, nutrition, processing machinery, or packaging technology.
• Exceptional Communication: Outstanding sub-editing, research, and storytelling skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority assignments.
• Professional Agility: A proactive and versatile approach to editorial work, capable of managing a broad portfolio of content themes independently.
