A conference agenda isn't a schedule offavours for people who already like you. It's a commercial asset. Every sessioneither sells a delegate pass, justifies a sponsorship fee, or gives sales areason to close -- and you're the one deciding which.
MMI Asia builds the trade shows where entire industries acrossSoutheast Asia meet, do business and decide what comes next. Around every oneof those shows sits a conference programme -- and increasingly, that programmeis the reason senior buyers get on a plane.
We're looking for a producer who treats content as a commercialinstrument, not an editorial hobby. You'll design and run the conference andcontent programme that pulls the right buyers into the room, gives sponsors astage worth paying for, and pays for itself - and then some. You own thecontent P&L end to end: what it costs to put on, who it attracts, what itearns in delegate and sponsorship revenue, and the margin left over when thelast speaker walks off stage.
This is the part that makes the roledifferent. Content, at most exhibitions, is a cost centre run by whoever hasthe least on their plate. Here, it's a revenue line with your name on it -- anda budget you control to get there.
– Own the content P&L. Set and defend the budget for speakers, production, staging and AVagainst the revenue the programme brings in through delegate passes, conferencesponsorship and paid summit seats.
– Price the programme like aproduct. Build the delegate pricing tiers,early-bird structure and premium/VIP content packages that make people pay tosit in the room, not just walk the floor.
– Build sponsorable content. Design keynotes, panels and case-study slots as sellable inventory-- headline sponsorships, branded stages, co-created sessions -- and work withsales to close them.
– Negotiate like it's yourmoney. Because a chunk of it effectively is --speaker fees, travel, AV and production vendors all get the same scrutiny you'dgive your own budget.
– Design the conference agendaand content tracks from a blank page -- themes, session formats, flow -- builtaround what will actually pull your target buyer into the room.
– Turn market intelligence, salesfeedback and exhibitor priorities into an agenda that reads as unmissable, notgeneric.
– Own the full content calendaracross the show cycle: agenda reveals, speaker announcements, market reportsand the drip of "why you can't miss this" that builds registrationmomentum.
– Recruit senior, crediblespeakers -- the names that make a buyer clear their calendar -- and manage themfrom first outreach to walking off stage.
– Build relationships withassociations, media partners and industry bodies who lend credibility and helpfill seats.
– Forecast and track delegate andsponsorship revenue against budget throughout the planning cycle, not justafter the show closes.
– Package and pitch sponsorshipassets alongside sales -- speaking slots, branded content, roundtables -- sothe programme funds itself and contributes to the wider show P&L.
– Manage vendor and productioncosts (AV, staging, translation, recording) to keep margin healthy without thecontent looking cheap.
– Run the show floor's contentstages on-site -- speaker logistics, run-of-show, timing and the inevitablelast-minute changes -- so the programme lands the way it was sold.
– Brief moderators, AV crews andproduction partners so every session looks and sounds like it was worth payingfor.
– Be the calm, decisive presencebackstage when a speaker cancels two hours before their slot.
– Several years producingconferences, summits or content programmes -- ideally in exhibitions, media orB2B events, where content sits next to a revenue number rather than off to theside of one.
– A track record of building anagenda from scratch and getting senior people to say yes to speaking on it.
– Commercial fluency -- you canhold a budget conversation with finance and a content conversation with aspeaker in the same afternoon, and enjoy both.
✗ You think of content as aschedule to fill rather than a product to sell.
✗ Budgets feel like someoneelse's problem, and "margin" isn't a word you use about your ownwork.
✗ You'd rather book a familiarname than fight for the speaker who'll actually move the needle.
