Job Description - Head of Marketing

ABOUT WORLD TABLE TENNIS

The creation of World Table Tennis (WTT) is set to revolutionise the way table tennis is viewed and commercialised across the globe. With significant external investment and commitment to long term partnership, WTT is much more than a vehicle to house current rights. As the dedicated commercial rights entity, for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), WTT has the ambition and ability to create new assets and events, capitalising on the unrivalled potential of the sport. The clear aim is to build WTT into a revenue generation powerhouse, ploughing profits back into Table Tennis to continually develop and transform the sport.

Taking a new, innovative and entrepreneurial approach to how table tennis should manage its competition platform and positioning, WTT has been tasked with re-imagining a new professional event structure, re-energising the entertainment and fan experience, and re-defining the new era.

With 300 million players and over 500 million fans, the potential of the sport of table tennis is waiting to be unleashed.

WTT HEAD OF MARKETING

As the Head of Marketing at WTT, you will take the lead in executing marketing and content strategies, reporting directly to the Director of PR & Marketing. This role combines the driving force of marketing initiatives with the creative pulse of content leadership. You will spearhead innovative marketing campaigns, manage brand identity, and ensure our brand resonates across digital landscapes and beyond. Your responsibilities will extend from conceptualising high-impact strategies that enhance our brand presence to overseeing the creation of exciting table tennis content across all channels.

This includes leading a dynamic team, fostering strategic partnerships, and leveraging analytics to guide our digital footprint, setting the stage for how table tennis is perceived globally. Your expertise in both marketing and content creation will elevate WTT, engaging audiences and propelling the sport into a new era.

Your role demands a blend of creativity and strategic thinking, with a strong foundation in digital marketing and social media. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute marketing and content initiatives to amplify WTT's brand presence, aligning with our mission.
  • Oversee the planning and creation of engaging content across WTT’s digital channels, ensuring brand consistency and the timely delivery of news.
  • Develop a unified social and digital media strategy, differentiating across platforms and digital products.
  • Lead a diverse team of marketers, social media content creators, editors and writers, fostering high-impact synergy.
  • Initiate fan engagement campaigns and conceptualise content-driven campaigns for brand marketing initiatives, WTT events and commercial partnerships, with the aim of supporting maximum revenue generation.
  • Establish efficient content workflows, collaborating with IT for CMS development.
  • Work collaboratively within the WTT PR & Marketing team, including, PR, Content (Video) and Creative to ensure a cohesive, united front for all marketing activities.
  • Work closely with the Director of Media for China to ensure alignment between the global and Chinese social media strategy.
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy and programme for top ranking players.
  • Support the WTT Commercial and Brand Partnerships team to ensure the delivery of maximum ROI for our event hosts, partners and sponsors.
  • Manage the team’s marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximise ROI and achieve set marketing objectives.
  • Execute campaigns efficiently, adhering to budget and scope, and leverage analytics to refine content strategy.
  • Any other duties as required by Line Manager and Management.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a marketing or digital marketing role, 3 years of which in a team managerial capacity. Experience in the sports, broadcast or events industry would be advantegous.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective marketing strategies, with a strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, and event marketing.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Creative thinking and a passion for table tennis or sports marketing.
  • Strong organisational and team management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful marketing campaigns with measurable results.

Desirable:

  • Passion for sport and business;
  • Ability to work in multiple languages, with a preference in South East Asian Languages
