Established in 1949, the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) is Singapore's oldest and leading institution dedicated to the preservation, education, and promotion of Indian classical music, dance, visual arts, and cultural heritage. Serving over 5,000 students annually and presenting numerous performances, festivals, exhibitions, and community programmes, SIFAS is a cultural bridge connecting Singapore with India and the global Indian diaspora.

We are seeking a passionate, culturally aware, and strategic Marketing & Communications Executive to strengthen SIFAS' brand presence, deepen audience engagement, and position SIFAS as a leading centre for Indian arts and intercultural dialogue in Singapore and internationally.

Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Executive is responsible for planning and executing integrated marketing, communications, media relations, digital engagement, and audience development strategies that support SIFAS' artistic, educational, fundraising, and institutional objectives.

The role requires someone who understands both Singapore's multicultural landscape and the diversity of Indian culture, languages, traditions, and communities. The successful candidate will be able to communicate authentically with audiences across generations while expanding SIFAS' reach to new communities locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing

  • Develop and implement annual marketing and communications plans aligned with SIFAS' strategic priorities.
  • Build awareness of SIFAS' education programmes, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, outreach initiatives, and institutional milestones.
  • Position SIFAS as Singapore's premier institution for Indian classical arts and cultural diplomacy.
  • Develop campaigns that engage both traditional arts audiences and younger generations.

Brand & Communications

  • Maintain consistency of the SIFAS brand across all communications and platforms.
  • Produce compelling content including:press releases, feature stories, newsletters. speeches, annual reports,website content, brochures, programme books, donor communications, corporate presentations.
  • Develop storytelling that highlights artists, students, alumni, faculty, and SIFAS' cultural impact.

Digital Marketing

  • Manage SIFAS' digital presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
  • Create engaging multimedia content including short-form videos, reels, interviews, photography, and behind-the-scenes features.
  • Monitor digital analytics and optimise campaigns for audience growth and engagement.
  • Execute paid digital advertising campaigns where appropriate.

Media & Public Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, Indian, and international media.
  • Pitch stories highlighting SIFAS' artistic excellence, education programmes, international collaborations, and cultural initiatives.
  • Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and publicity events.

Community & Audience Development

  • Develop marketing initiatives that engage: Singapore's multicultural communities; Indian communities across linguistic and cultural backgrounds; youth audiences; schools and institutes of higher learning; corporate partners; arts audiences; international visitors; alumni, patrons and donors.
  • Build stronger connections with Indian diaspora organisations, cultural associations, embassies, and community partners.

International & Cultural Partnerships

Support communications relating to collaborations with:

  • Government agencies
  • Arts institutions
  • Indian cultural organisations
  • High Commission of India
  • ICCR
  • Indian states and cultural academies
  • ASEAN cultural institutions
  • International festivals
  • Universities and research institutions

Promote SIFAS' role in strengthening India-Singapore cultural relations through the arts.

Event Marketing

Develop integrated marketing campaigns for:

  • Annual Festival of Arts
  • Arangetram or Manch Pravesh
  • Concert series
  • Lecture demonstrations
  • Workshops
  • Masterclasses
  • Open Houses
  • Community programmes
  • Visual arts exhibitions
  • International artist residencies

Coordinate publicity timelines from announcement through post-event reporting.

Stakeholder Communications

Prepare communication materials for:

  • Members
  • Students
  • Parents
  • Faculty
  • Sponsors
  • Government agencies
  • Donors
  • Volunteers
  • Board members
  • International partners

Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Arts Management, Media, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or digital marketing.
  • Experience in arts, culture, heritage, education, or non-profit organisations will be an advantage.
  • Experience managing multiple campaigns and stakeholders simultaneously.

Knowledge

Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Indian classical music and dance traditions.
  • Singapore's multicultural arts ecosystem.
  • Indian communities in Singapore.
  • Indian diaspora communities across Southeast Asia and globally.
  • India's cultural diversity, including familiarity with major linguistic and regional traditions such as Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, and others.
  • India–Singapore cultural, educational, and diplomatic relations.
  • Cross-cultural communication and audience engagement.

Language Skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of at least one Indian language is highly desirable, particularly Tamil or Hindi.
  • Familiarity with additional Indian languages and cultural contexts will be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural stakeholders across Singapore and India.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in:

  • Meta Business Suite
  • Canva
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Mailchimp or similar EDM platforms
  • Google Analytics
  • Microsoft Office
  • WordPress or CMS platforms
  • Photography and videography for social media
  • AI-assisted content creation tools

The successful candidate should be:

  • An excellent storyteller with strong editorial judgement.
  • Sensitive to cultural nuances across diverse Indian communities.

  • Curious about emerging trends in digital communications and audience engagement.
