Job Description - Account Manager (APAC)

Company Overview

Alpha Development is an international financial services training firm serving global investment banks, asset managers, insurers, sovereign wealth funds and private banks. With teams in London, New York, Singapore and Abu Dhabi, we deliver a range of high-impact solutions from Transformational Advisory services to training Early Careers and senior leaders within global financial institutions, supported by an industry‑leading global faculty network.

Alpha Values

Professionalism, Accountability, Team Focus, Innovation, Openness and Honesty.

Purpose

Alpha is setting its commercial organisation up for accelerated growth across our global client portfolio. We are expanding our Account Management function with a new role in APAC (Singapore). This role goes beyond traditional relationship management: while Account Managers are responsible for owning renewals and managing a portfolio of highvalue clients, there is a commercial expectation to drive incremental growth within each account beyond contract renewal.

Working closely with the Regional Director, the Account Manager will fully own customer relationships, proactively identifying expansion opportunities, supporting the renewals and sales process, and contributing directly to Alpha’s growth ambition on a global scale.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of renewal programmes for a portfolio of key global clients, taking responsibility for renewal outcomes, value growth and retention across each account.

  • Drive renewal uplift and in‑account growth, proactively identifying, shaping and progressing expansion opportunities (e.g. programme extensions, new cohorts, additional regions, new products) rather than limiting focus to contract renewal.

  • Act as the primary commercial owner of the client relationship on a day‑to‑day basis, developing trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders and positioning Alpha as a long‑term strategic partner.

  • Lead structured account planning and periodic reviews, assessing performance, renewal risk, growth potential and future demand, and translating insight into clear commercial actions.

  • Initiate and progress new opportunities within existing accounts, collaborating with the Account Director on larger or more complex pursuits, and owning defined opportunities end‑to‑end where appropriate.

  • Manage all project‑related aspects of renewal and expansion programmes, including client engagement, solution design coordination, delivery oversight and evaluation.

  • Manage billing, purchase orders and contractual requirements for assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance in coordination with Alpha’s relevant teams.

  • Meet or exceed agreed commercial targets and KPIs, with explicit accountability for renewal performance, account growth, pipeline contribution and client satisfaction metrics.

  • Maintain accurate and disciplined CRM management, ensuring pipelines, forecasts, renewal timelines and opportunity data are current and reliable.

  • Proactively introduce SMEs, Product leaders and senior stakeholders at the right stage of client conversations to enhance value, credibility and solution fit.

  • Champion exceptional client experience, conducting regular satisfaction reviews, addressing risks early and ensuring consistently high standards of service and delivery.

  • Collaborate across Alpha’s global commercial and delivery network, including external delivery partners, to ensure seamless execution and a joined‑up client experience.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in account management or client‑facing commercial roles. Experience within the financial Learning & Development sector is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience managing renewals and driving growth within existing client accounts, including identifying expansion opportunities and increasing account value over time.

  • Proven ability to understand complex client needs and translate them into commercially viable solutions across a portfolio of products and services.

  • Strong commercial and organisational capability, with a track record of managing multiple accounts, stakeholders and priorities concurrently while delivering against revenue, renewal and client satisfaction targets.

  • Experience engaging with senior and executive‑level clients at both strategic and transactional levels, using insight, data and business context to influence decisions and outcomes.

  • Ability to differentiate through proactive, value‑led account management, anticipating client needs and positioning solutions that extend beyond immediate programme delivery.

  • Sound commercial judgement with experience managing billing processes, purchase orders and contractual requirements, working effectively with Finance, Legal and internal stakeholders.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across clients, internal teams, SMEs and delivery partners in a global environment.

  • Entrepreneurial and self‑starting mind‑set, comfortable operating with autonomy while contributing effectively within a global commercial team and adhering to organisational standards.

  • Solutions‑focused and client‑centric, consistently seeking to add value, improve client impact and strengthen long‑term partnerships.

  • Experience working in a fast‑paced organisation, managing workflow across Product, Delivery, Finance and Commercial teams with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong IT capability, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and proven experience using CRMs to manage pipelines, forecasting and account data.
