Accounting Manager (Metal/ Steel industry)

Responsibilities:

• Ensure timely payments to suppliers while maintaining healthy cash flow. 
• Implement vendor reconciliation and approval workflows to prevent payment delays or errors.
• Monitor outstanding receivables to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and improve liquidity. 
• Strengthen credit policies and conduct regular AR aging analysis.
• Maintain accurate GL records with periodic reconciliations. Implement automation tools for journal entries to minimize manual errors.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reports focusing on budget variance analysis, forecasting accuracy, and key financial metrics. Ensure reports align with company objectives to aid decision-making.
• Coordinate with teams to meet tight financial closing deadlines. Implement a checklist-driven closing process to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
• Prepare comprehensive audit schedules and documentation. Facilitate communication between auditors and internal teams to ensure audits are completed efficiently and meet regulatory requirements.
• Conduct monthly reviews to align physical stock with system records, reducing discrepancies.
• Identify bottlenecks in the reconciliation process and implement process changes, such as system integrations or enhanced reporting templates, to achieve smoother operations.
• Regularly review GST returns, tax filings, and audit reports for compliance and accuracy. Liaise with external consultants or auditors to ensure submissions meet statutory deadlines.
• Implement a robust payment approval process to prioritize trade creditor payments based on cash flow availability. 
• Standardize P&L tracking across multiple trading platforms using Excel or dedicated tools. 
• Regularly analyze performance to identify profitable trading strategies and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, with leading experience 
• Experience within precious metals / commodity trading is a plus
• Competency in preparation of management accounts (ERP & Excel)
