APAC Legal Counsel (VP) Private Funds

We are partnering with a fast-growing global fintech and asset management platform to appoint aVice President, APAC Legal Counsel as part of its expanding international legal team in Singapore.

This is a high-impact role supporting the growth of private markets solutions across Asia-Pacific, with a focus on private fund structures and cross-border distribution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements with leading global fund managers and distribution partners
2. Prepare and review private fund documentation, including offering materials, partnership agreements, and related legal documents
3. Advise internal stakeholders on the legal implications of launching and distributing products across multiple jurisdictions
4. Partner closely with teams across product, client solutions, structuring, and compliance
5. Coordinate with external counsel on regulatory, corporate, and fund-related matters
6. Support the development and execution of new fund structures, strategic initiatives, and business lines
7. Contribute to broader legal and commercial matters across the business

Requirements

1. Qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ PQE in a common law jurisdiction
2. Strong experience in private funds, asset management, or financial services
3. Proven ability to draft and negotiate fund documentation and commercial agreements
4. Solid understanding of Cayman fund structures; exposure to Australia and Singapore structures is advantageous
5. Familiarity with cross-border regulatory frameworks; knowledge of US regulatory regimes is a plus
6. Strong commercial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
7. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
8. Proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to manage complex matters effectively
9. Additional language skills (e.g. Japanese) are advantageous
