Area (Plant) Manager (Based in Jurong Island)

Purpose and Scope

Responsible for the reliability and availability of a cluster of Plants assigned by the Head and ensure site assigned meet the GHSSE and regulatory requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure plants are able to treat incoming wastewater and able to discharge it (after treatment) to meet regulatory requirements and/or business quality specifications.
• Responsible for minimizing the impact of site operation to the environment, as well as complying with site-specific regulations, permits and GHSSE requirements.
• Ensure operational risks identified in Risk Register is monitored and mitigation measures in place at all times.
• Initiate career progression / development with HR on the direct reports.
• Responsible for full compliance of SOPs implementation.
• Ensure all plants are maintained in accordance with planned maintenance to ensure sustainability of the plants.
• Implement work procedures and enforce SOPs to ensure effective safe work performance.
• Responsible for commercial matters with KAM (key account managers) and support functions to ensure process stability and business continuity.
• Responsible for ensuring operational risks are mitigated when ad hoc off-spec wastewater is detected.
• Ad hoc operational support to plants outside Singapore, when required.
• Takes charge of Profit and Loss (P&L) for the plants, ensuring operational cost is within budget and explore opportunities for optimization.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree / Masters in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 10-years experience in operation of water/wastewater treatment plant or chemical plant with minimum 5-years in managerial position handling more than 10 staff, including operators.
• Strong leadership to lead the team to operational excellence and build a systematic approach of competent operation team.
• Ability to lead the team to analyze issues and propose solutions.
• Anticipate and intervene to avoid aggravate of plant issues. Ability to make tough decisions as required.
• Good team player and able to deliver results within tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Independent with initiatives, resourceful and positive attitude.
• Well versed in company policies, GHSSE and regulatory requirements.
• Well versed in SOPs and able to detect deviation during plant inspection.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Willing to travel to support operations outside Singapore.
