Job Description - Art Therapist (Child Protection Specialist Centre)

About Child Protection Specialist Centre (CPSC):

Child Protection Specialist Centre (CPSC) provides centre-based, home-based, and school-based support to children and families experiencing abuse or severe neglect. We receive referrals from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) Child Protection Services to support those requiring non-statutory intervention. Grounded in a child-centred, family-focused, and community-based approach, we work alongside families to strengthen safety, resilience, and long-term wellbeing.

We are seeking a dedicated Art Therapist to join HEART@Fei Yue Child Protection Specialist Centre. In this role, you will support children and adolescents (aged 7 to 18) in their recovery from experiences of abuse, neglect, and family violence. You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team—including caseworkers, caregivers, and a clinical supervisor—to deliver trauma-informed art therapy interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide art therapy to children and adolescents presenting with behavioural and emotional difficulties related to trauma, attachment disruptions, loss, and adjustment challenges.
  • Apply art-based, trauma-informed approaches to support emotional expression, regulation, and integration.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers to strengthen their capacity to support their child’s emotional and psychological needs, and to foster a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Conduct parent-child (dyadic) sessions to strengthen attachment and support relational healing.
  • Maintain and manage art therapy materials and studio spaces in a safe, organised, and therapeutic manner.
  • Document therapy sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes; identify and communicate key therapeutic themes in alignment with goals co-developed with caseworkers.
  • Participate in case conferences, family meetings, and inter-agency collaborations to support holistic care planning.
  • Engage in individual and group supervision, and contribute actively to team and departmental meetings.
  • Remain flexible and open to integrating different therapeutic modalities in response to diverse client needs.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Master’s qualification in Art Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with a recognised professional body (e.g., ANZACATA or equivalent).
  • Some experience (e.g., minimum 1 year) working with children and families, including the provision of art therapy; experience with trauma, abuse, or neglect is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of child development, trauma, and attachment, with willingness to deepen clinical practice in these areas.
  • Experience in the social service sector will be an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team (e.g., play therapists, psychologists, caseworkers), with openness to learning from others.
  • Able to work one evening per week when required.
  • Willingness to travel to Redhill, Choa Chu Kang, and offsite locations to conduct sessions.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and committed to ongoing professional learning and supervision.

Location: Lengkok Bahru
