Assistant Director / Deputy Director, Community Engagement and Partnerships

The Assistant Director / Deputy Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships (CEP) leads the Society's strategies by building meaningful, long-term relationships that advance the wellbeing of children, youth and families in Singapore. Reporting to the Head, the role provides strategic leadership to strengthen supporter engagement, develop high-performing teams and ensure that the Society continues to grow a sustainable community of supporters The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to translate strategy into execution while maintaining strong governance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership and Organisational Development

  • Provide leadership and direction to teams responsible for donor engagement, volunteer engagement and partner engagement, fostering a collaborative, relationship-centred and high-performing culture.
  • Translate organisational priorities into practical engagement strategies that strengthen supporter acquisition, retention and long-term sustainability.
  • Coach and develop managers and team members to build capability, accountability and professional growth.
  • Champion innovation by identifying new opportunities, engagement approaches and partnership models that strengthen the Society's reach and impact.
  • Support the Head of CEP in developing policies, frameworks, SOPs and governance practices that enable effective supporter engagement.

2. Supporter Engagement and Partnership Development

  • Lead the cultivation and stewardship of strategic donors, corporate partners, foundations, philanthropists and key stakeholders to strengthen long-term relationships with the Society.
  • Represent the Society at external engagements and discussions to strengthen awareness and build meaningful collaborations.
  • Work closely with Centre and Department Heads to identify partnership opportunities that enhance programmes, services and organisational capability.
  • Guide the development of engagement strategies that deliver meaningful supporter experiences and encourage sustained commitment.

3. Performance, Governance and Risk Management

  • Drive fundraising and supporter engagement performance by reviewing portfolio performance and ensuring achievement of the department’s objectives.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, monitor organisational risks and ensure timely mitigation of issues relating to supporter engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, due diligence processes and regulatory obligations relating to fundraising, volunteers and partnerships.
  • Prepare strategic reports, insights and recommendations for Management and governance committees to support informed decision-making.

4. Resource Sustainability and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor supporter trends, fundraising performance and sector developments to identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage data-informed decision-making and the effective use of supporter insights to strengthen engagement strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualifications preferred.
  • At least 8–12 years of relevant experience in the social service or non-profit sector.
  • Proven experience leading teams and translating strategy into operational outcomes.
  • Proven experience managing relationships with donors, corporate partners, volunteers or community stakeholders.
  • Experience in governance, safeguarding, compliance and risk management within external engagement functions will be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
