Ding Yi Music Company is Singapore's premier Chinese chamber music ensemble and a registered charity dedicated to advancing the art of Chinese chamber music through performances, collaborations, education and community engagement.
Job Summary
The Assistant Manager leads the programming team to plan, produce, and evaluate Ding Yi Music Company’s programmes, including concerts, educational shows, workshops, and outreach activities. This role oversees production management, artist liaison, rehearsal scheduling, and overall programme administration to ensure events run smoothly, efficiently, and within budget. This role also cultivates and maintains partnerships with arts institutions, schools, and community stakeholders and works closely with the marketing team to achieve the company's artistic and outreach objectives.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, development and delivery of Ding Yi's artistic concerts, educational and outreach initiatives in line with the Company's artistic vision and strategic objectives.
Oversee the end-to-end management of assigned programmes, including production planning, venue coordination, artist engagement, rehearsal scheduling, logistics and post-event evaluation.
Supervise and mentor Programme Executives by allocating work, monitoring project timelines and ensuring the successful execution of programmes.
Manage relationships with musicians, conductors, guest artists and production partners to ensure high artistic and operational standards.
Develop and strengthen partnerships with arts organisations, schools, community groups, government agencies and corporate stakeholders to expand programme reach and impact.
Prepare, monitor and manage programme budgets, procurement and expenditure in accordance with organisational policies and approved budgets.
Support grant applications, programme reporting and evaluation by monitoring programme outcomes, audience engagement and project deliverables.
Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure coordinated planning, effective audience engagement and successful programme execution.
Identify opportunities for new artistic collaborations, festivals and community initiatives that strengthen the Company's position as Singapore's leading Chinese chamber music ensemble.
Required competencies and certifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin to effectively engage diverse stakeholders
Proven project and time management skills with attention to detail to deliver programmes on schedule and within budget
Excellent relationship management skills to build and sustain productive partnerships
Flexibility to work occasional weekday evenings and weekends for events, with time off in lieu
Preferred competencies and qualifications
Passion for the arts/music
Experience or knowledge of the arts/music sector
Commitment to teamwork, reliability, and responsibility to contribute positively to company goals
