Assistant Manager, Underwriting

Primary Responsibilities

• Underwriting and pricing of new and renewal business for all lines of general insurance (except Personal Lines), in compliance with Authority Limits and Underwriting Standards set by the Company. Undertake special projects, including Business Process Management, Systems and Methods and continuous review of business processes to ensure operational and service excellence.
• Assist the Head of Department with Reinsurance management and placements, including both Facultative and Treaty Reinsurance arrangements.
• Manage specific producers and accounts, as assigned by Head of Department.
• Supervise Underwriting Executives and monitor performance.
• Other duties as assigned by Head of Underwriting Department.

Competencies

• At least three years experience in insurance and/or reinsurance underwriting.
• Sound judgement and analytical skills.
• Strong leadership ability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain rapport with insurance intermediaries.
• Strong team player, passionate about life and work.
• University degree and/or ACII preferred.
