AVP - Commercial Lines Underwriter

About the role

• Underwrite all lines of P&C business within delegated Underwriting authority including Marine and Bond business.
• Take the lead in the management and development of the Brokers channel including Financial Advisors.
• Take the lead in the production of profitable business from Brokers' channels with a strong focus on Annual renewable accounts.
• Lead or co-lead annual Business Planning for Brokers and Annual business.
• Active participation during business planning and strategy discussions for all classes of business.
• Service allocated producers (brokers and financial advisors) to provide them with underwriting quotations and query support.
• Deputize key Product Underwriters in their absence.
• Monthly review of the premium target, pricing adequacy, and profitability of the producers within the Brokers' channel.
• Maintain a strong pipeline of Annual accounts including organized tracking of renewal dates, producing source and premium potential.
• Any other duties from time to time assigned by Management or CUO

Requirements

• Experience working in the insurance industry with technical competence in more than 2 classes of insurance as an Underwriter or a Broker
• Handling independently a portfolio of accounts from brokers or agents
• Strong business acumen to understand economics and business models
• Good relationship with producers (agents, brokers, or direct clients)
• Contacts with key Reinsurers will be an advantage
