Job Description - AVP, Distribution Operations

Singlife is the exclusive insurance provider for theMinistry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Officers GroupInsurance Scheme. Singlife is also an official signatory of the United NationsPrinciples for Sustainable Insurance and the United Nations-supportedPrinciples for Responsible Investment, affirming its commitment to finding abetter way to sustainability.

The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced inSeptember 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial servicescompanies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largestinsurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired bySumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valuedSinglife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurancedeals in Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities 

BusinessIntelligence, Reporting & Analytics

·      Deliveraccurate, timely, and increasingly automated management reports, dashboards,and data feeds to internal and external stakeholders through the effective useof reporting and data visualization tools.

·      Leveragebusiness intelligence platforms (e.g., Qlik) and advanced Excel/Pythoncapabilities to provide actionable insights on production performance, datafeeds, persistency ratios, and distribution effectiveness.

·      Manageend-to-end reporting processes, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, consistency,and timely delivery of business-critical information.

·      Supportregulatory and management reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy,completeness, and compliance with internal governance standards and externalregulatory obligations.

·      Proactivelyidentify, investigate, and escalate critical data quality issues, driving bothimmediate remediation and long-term sustainable solutions.

·      Serveas a trusted reporting partner to stakeholders by providing timely responses toreporting-related queries and delivering meaningful data-driven insights.

·      Collaborateclosely with business and technology teams to enhance reporting frameworks,improve data accessibility, and drive continuous process improvements.

·      Identifyopportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate reporting processes toimprove efficiency, turnaround time, data quality, and operationaleffectiveness.

·      Translatecomplex data into clear, concise, and insightful visualizations that supportinformed decision-making by senior management and distribution partners.

Compensation,Incentives & Distribution Support

·       Manage commission operations anddistributor remuneration processes, ensuring accurate and timely computation,validation, and payment.

·       Administer strategic and tacticalcompensation initiatives, including incentive schemes, sales campaigns, andconventions.

·       Accurately calculate incentiveentitlements for firm-level strategic programs and seller-level campaigns.

·       Ensure seamless execution andfulfilment of incentive programs, campaigns, and distribution-related rewardinitiatives.

·       Proactively identify and escalatecritical commission and remuneration issues, driving effective resolutionthrough strong stakeholder coordination and follow-through.

·       Partner with internal stakeholdersand distributors to address commission, incentive, and remuneration-relatedenquiries in a timely and professional manner.

·       Maintain and distribute accurateremuneration schedules to distribution partners to support transparency andoperational effectiveness.

·       Provide production information decksand performance-related materials for new product launches and selecteddistribution partners.

StakeholderManagement & Continuous Improvement

·       Build strong relationships withinternal business units, distribution partners, and support functions tounderstand evolving business needs and reporting requirements.

·       Drive enhancements to reporting,analytics, compensation, and operational processes that create meaningful valuefor stakeholders and improve the overall distributor experience.

·       Support reporting transformationinitiatives through the use of Python, data visualization tools, and automationtechnologies to streamline data processing, improve reporting efficiency,enhance data quality, and reduce manual intervention.

·       Support strategic transformationinitiatives by leveraging data, automation, and digital capabilities to improveoperational efficiency and business outcomes.

·       Contribute to projects andinitiatives aimed at strengthening data governance, process controls, andreporting capabilities across the distribution function.

Risk,Compliance & Governance

·       Ensure all activities are conductedin compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, andgovernance requirements.

·       Maintain strong controls and robustdocumentation over reporting, compensation, and incentive processes to minimizeoperational risk.

·       Support audit, risk management, andcompliance reviews by providing accurate information and maintainingappropriate process documentation.

Requirements

Experience

·       3–7 years of relevant experience inbusiness intelligence, reporting, data analytics, distribution operations,compensation management, or financial services operations.

·       Strong proficiency in QlikSense/QlikView, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.

·       Advanced Excel skills, includingcomplex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and automation techniques.

·       Proficiency in Python for dataanalysis, reporting automation, data transformation, data quality checks, andprocess optimization.

·       Experience working with largedatasets, SQL databases, and data extraction/manipulation techniques.

·       Strong analytical andproblem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

·       Experience translating complex datainto actionable business insights and management reporting.

·       Excellent stakeholder management,communication, and presentation skills.

·       Ability to manage multiplepriorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.

·       Experience in insurance,bancassurance, wealth management, or financial services industries ispreferred.

Education

·      Academic: Bachelor's Degree in Business,Finance, Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
