JOB SUMMARY:
The BIM Trainee provides entry-level support to the Digital Practice / BIM team, assisting in the preparation, development and maintenance of Building Information Modelling (BIM) models and documentation. Under the guidance of BIM Coordinators, BIM Executives and BIM Managers, the Trainee learns BIM standards, modelling techniques, digital workflows and coordination processes used in architectural and engineering projects. The role is designed to build foundational BIM skills and support project delivery activities in a structured learning environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in developing and updating BIM models for architectural or engineering disciplines under supervision.
• Support the preparation of drawings, layouts, schedules and documentation extracted from BIM models.
• Learn and apply BIM standards, protocols and digital workflows used within the organisation.
• Assist in model coordination activities including clash checking, issue tracking and updating model components.
• Support BIM team members in managing digital file structures, naming conventions and document control processes.
• Participate in training sessions, tutorials and on-the-job learning to build competence in BIM software and collaboration platforms.
• Perform basic modelling tasks such as 2D drafting, 3D object placement, annotation and updating design changes.
• Assist in preparing visual materials such as views, sheets, renderings or diagrams for project presentations.
• Support project teams by ensuring model accuracy, completeness and timely updating of information.
• Help maintain digital libraries, BIM content, templates and project standards.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and BIM professionals to understand design intent and project requirements.
• Assist in digital documentation tasks including exporting model data, preparing reports or updating logs.
• Ensure all work complies with internal BIM guidelines, quality standards and project workflows.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Diploma, Higher Nitec or relevant qualification in Architecture, Engineering, BIM Technology or related fields.
• No prior experience required; internships or school projects involving BIM are an advantage.
• Basic understanding of BIM concepts, 3D modelling and digital drafting.
• Familiarity with BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks or similar tools is beneficial.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in BIM and digital design workflows.
• Good attention to detail, accuracy and ability to follow instructions.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage tasks in a structured project environment.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Positive attitude, curiosity and commitment to continuous learning in digital design technologies.
