Business Data Analyst

Job Summary:

As a Business Data Analyst within the Chinese Media Group (CMG) of SPH Media, you will be instrumental in harnessing data to illuminate insights that drive strategic decisions for Singapore's largest Chinese-language daily newspaper Lianhe Zaobao and other news titles and products under CMG. Your analysis will support both print and digital formats, with the goal of enhancing reader engagement, optimising content strategy, and fostering revenue growth. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, cultural understanding, and innovative thinking to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of the Chinese-language media landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Analysis & Strategic Insights: Employ advanced data analysis and statistical techniques to evaluate platform performance across both print and digital mediums. Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Audience Engagement: Analyse reader and user data to understand behaviour and preferences deeply. Use these insights to advise on content personalization strategies, enhancing reader satisfaction and loyalty.
• Revenue & Market Positioning: Conduct detailed analyses of revenue streams, identifying trends, opportunities, and threats in the market. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop targeted strategies for revenue enhancement and market growth.
• Predictive Modeling & Forecasting: Develop predictive models to forecast trends in reader engagement and market dynamics. Provide forward-looking insights to prepare the publication for future developments.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, marketing, sales, and Tech departments to ensure a unified and data-driven approach to decision-making.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, Quicksight, Tableau).
• Strong background in statistical analysis, data mining and predictive modelling.
• Excellent understanding of the digital and print media landscape, particularly within the Chinese-speaking community.
• Ability to communicate complex data insights in a clear and impactful manner to non-technical stakeholders.
• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the nuances related to the Chinese-language media and its audience.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the media industry, particularly in roles that require analysis of consumer behaviour and content strategy.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in predictive modelling.
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), to cater effectively to LHZB's primary audience and stakeholders.
