Job Description - Business Development Manager - Asset Management (SEA)

Role Summary:

  • Be part of an established global asset manager with strong long-term performance and responsible investment credentials
  • Take ownership of regional growth and build strategic relationships across Southeast Asia
  • Work in a collaborative and internationally minded team with HQ support (China)

Client Acquisition & Sales

  • Identify and acquire new institutional clients (e.g., banks, family offices, pension funds, insurers)
  • Promote organization’s suite of investment products and strategies in alignment with client needs
  • Lead sales activities and achieve AUM growth targets for the SEA region

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients and partners
  • Provide timely market and product updates, and deliver high-quality client servicing
  • Manage ongoing communication with clients, addressing inquiries and gathering feedback to strengthen relationships

Regional Strategy & Market Insights

  • Conduct market analysis and gather competitive intelligence to identify emerging opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and HQ in China to tailor offerings for the SEA market
  • Prepare strategic plans for business development in the assigned territories
  • Translate market/client feedback into actionable proposals for internal teams

 

Cross-Border Collaboration

  • Liaise with Mandarin-speaking teams at HQ for client onboarding, marketing material, product info, etc.
  • Translate client requirements into actionable strategies for product/portfolio teams
  • Enhance brand recognition and thought leadership in the SEA investment community
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field
  • At least 5 to 6 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship roles within asset management, private banking, or financial institutions
  • Solid knowledge of investment products including mutual funds, ETFs, fixed income, and equity strategies
  • Strong network of institutional investors in the SEA region
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Mandarin (to liaise with HQ in China)
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks across Southeast Asia markets
  • Attractive compensation package in a growing international business
