Business Manager (VP) - Fixed Income | Japanese Speaking

Overview

You will serve as a Vice President, Business Manager for the Asia Fixed Income Sales & Trading desk at a leading financial institution, based in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening governance and control frameworks while driving the commercial performance of the FICC franchise across the Asia-Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

New Product & Business Governance

1. Lead the internal approval process for new FICC products, ensuring all stakeholders from Risk, Finance, and IT provide necessary signoffs.
2. Collaborate with Legal and Compliance on the negotiation of Master Agreements (e.g., ISDA) and ensure all product documentation aligns with internal risk frameworks.

Strategic Business Planning & Execution

1. Partner with the Head of FICC to develop and execute regional growth strategies, including market entry and client segmentation.
2. Lead financial planning, forecasting, and expense management, ensuring the desk meets its revenue and profitability targets.
3. Drive sales productivity by tracking performance metrics (KPIs) and overseeing resource planning.

Regulatory & Risk Management

1. Ensure the FICC business adheres to the latest regulations
2. Maintain a robust front-office supervision framework to mitigate unauthorized trading risks and ensure compliance with AML/CFT standards.
3. Manage responses to internal and external audits or regulatory investigations.

Operational Excellence & Transformation

1. Identify opportunities to automate workflows and streamline trade lifecycle processes.
2. Lead high-priority cross-functional projects, such as implementing new trading technologies or integrating regional platforms.
3. Act as the primary interface between the front office and support functions (Operations, Risk, Finance, IT)

Key Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
2. Minimum 8-10 years’ experience FICC Business Management, Governance, or a COO function within a major financial institution
3. Deep expertise in fixed income products and business operations
4. Strong understanding of the APAC regulatory landscape
5. Exceptional stakeholder management with the ability to influence senior leadership
6. Japanese language is mandatory
