Job Description as follows:

The Master shall represent the Company and has overall authority and responsibility for taking all necessary actions for safety and security, pollution prevention and the efficient operation of his ship. Under circumstances, this may mean deviation from documented procedures(See IMO resolution A443 (XI).

In all matters which affect or may affect safety, security or the environment, the Master shall report directly to the Designated Person Ashore (DPA): -

(1) implementing the safety, security, and environmental policy of the Company, motivating the crews in the execution of that policy, issuing orders in a clear and concise manner and reviewing safety and pollution prevention activities.

(2) to comply and implement harbour craft security code and security log, to developed security measures to protect the crew and mitigate vulnerabilities to security incidents onboard.

(3) Responsible to conning the ship from point to point.

(4)  reporting defects to the Company and other matters with implications for safe operations or pollution risk and which require the assistance of the Company.

(5) appraising and coordinating onboard training requirements with the Company.

(6) evaluate and review crew performance relating to shipboard activities.

(7) review of onboard contingency plans and ship procedure and reporting any deficiencies/discrepancy to the DPA.

(8) reporting non-conformities, accidents involving personnel or plant and hazardous situations to the Company.

(9) ensuring that all documentation that is designated as ‘controlled’ is up to date and issued as per Company procedures.

(10) requesting assistance from the Company as may be deemed necessary to ensure safe and pollution free operation of the ship.

Master shall maintain order and discipline onboard and make efforts to raise the level of morale of the crew and create a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere.

The Master shall not disclose secrets regarding the Company’s business, personnel affairs, etc
