Job Description - China Strategy & Cross-Border Development Lead
We areseekinga highly entrepreneurial,strategicand commercially drivenindividual to join the Sales & Business Development team with a focus on building aChina Market Strategytodrive theclients and partnership collaborationexpansion across China-related commodities markets.
This roleis responsible foridentifyinggrowth opportunities, shaping market entry and expansion strategies, and building long-term cross-border partnerships with key stakeholders across the Chinese and international commodities ecosystem.
This role is a core commercial growth position, responsible for building revenue-generating participation, structuring cross-border access models, and executing strategic partnerships that materially increase trading, clearing, and data revenues.
Working directly with senior leadership, key clients, and strategic partners to position the exchange as a preferred global venue for China-linked commodities risk management.
Key Responsibilities
China Country Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive China country strategy aligned with the exchange’s global growth objectives
Assess market structure, participant needs, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics within China andGreater Chinamarkets
Identifypriority commodities, products, access models, and connectivity opportunities related to China-linked supply chains
Provide strategic recommendations to senior management and governance committees
Cross-Border Market Development
Design and drive cross-border participation frameworks enabling international and Chinese clients to access the exchange’s products and services
Support initiatives related to offshore participation, internationalization of Chinese commodities, and foreign investor access
Evaluate and develop models for trading access, clearing access, data distribution, and index or product collaboration
Strategic Partnerships & Alliances
Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with exchanges, clearing houses, financial institutions, industry associations, and service providers
Build andmaintainsenior-level relationships with key stakeholders across China and international markets
SupportMoUs, joint initiatives, product collaborations, and technology or infrastructure partnerships
Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement
Monitor andanalyseregulatory and policy developmentsimpactingcross-border derivatives markets involving China
Engage with regulators, policymakers, and industry bodies (in coordination with internal legal and regulatory teams) to support strategic initiatives
Ensure strategy proposals are practical, compliant, and aligned with local and international regulatory frameworks
Internal Coordination & Execution
Work closely with Product, Clearing, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Commercial teams to execute strategic initiatives
Translate strategy into executable roadmaps, business cases, and implementation plans
Track performance metrics and provide regular updates on strategy progress and outcomes
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, International Relations, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
8–15 years of experience in business strategy, market development, or international expansion withincommodity related trading.
Deep understanding of China’s commodities markets, derivatives ecosystem, and cross-border capital market dynamics
Proven experience developing and executing country or regional strategies
Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills at senior levels
Strong commercial acumen and market insight
Ability to navigate complex regulatory and geopolitical environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Englishand Mandarin
Experience working directly in or with mainland China markets
Prior experience structuring cross-border exchange or clearing access models
Strong network across commodities producers, consumers, financial institutions, and regulators
