The Compliance Analyst will support the Head of Risk & Compliance, APAC by providing second line of defence compliance oversight, alongside targeted support for risk management activities across the region.

The role holder will act as the local Compliance Officer and primary point of contact for all compliance-related matters in Singapore, interacting with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, Lloyd's, Group Compliance and the APAC business.

The role is responsible for ensuring a robust local compliance framework, aligned with Group standards and regulatory expectations, supporting business-as-usual activities while upholding the highest standards of integrity, conduct and regulatory compliance.

The role-holder will provide supporting risk oversight activities, contributing to the ERM Framework through risk assessments, monitoring, reporting and governance support under the direction of the Head of R&C, APAC.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Responsibilities
  • Primarily act as the local compliance officer for Singapore and the main liaison for all compliance and regulatory matters affecting the Singapore business.
  • Ensure the design, maintenance and effectiveness of local compliance systems, controls, policies and procedures to meet MAS requirements, Lloyd's standards and Group policies.
  • Assist to develop, own and deliver the Singapore Compliance Work Plan, including thematic reviews, compliance monitoring activities and follow-up remediation actions.
  • Undertake compliance monitoring activities (including conduct risk, financial crime, AML/CFT, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption), working closely with Group SMEs where relevant.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory engagement, including supervisory queries, inspections, regulatory requests and returns, ensuring timely, accurate and high-quality responses.
  • Maintain and open and constructive relationship with regulators/authorities, supporting regulatory examinations and ensuring ongoing regulatory readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with MAS requirements, Lloyd's Principles, licenses, applicable byelaws and Market Directives.
  • Support the effective embedding of Group Frameworks such as the Financial Crime framework, Group Conduct Risk framework, within the Singapore business.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess applicability and impact to the Singapore operations, supporting implementation of regulatory change.
  • Fulfil the duties of Lloyd's Compliance Office in accordance with paragraph 40 of the Lloyd's Underwriting Byelaw.
  • Provide compliance advice and guidance to the Singapore business to support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare clear, structured compliance and relevant governance reports for governance oversight.

Risk Management Support
  • Support the APAC R&C team in operation and on on-going enhancement of ERM Framework.
  • Assist with ERM risk event reporting, risk registers and control assessments, and support the delivery of core ERM processes in line with Group methodology.
  • Undertake event reporting through the Risk Tool and assist in basic root cause analysis and action tracking.
  • Contribute to risk-related management information and reporting to support governance oversight.
  • Support risk culture initiatives and relevant training activities across the business.

Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders including APAC Senior Management, APAC R&C team and Group Governance functions.
  • Engage externally with regulators, Lloyd's counterparts and relevant authorities as required.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following field i.e. Law (Business), Finance/Accounting, Risk Management, Governance, Economics or any related professional qualifications
  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in the insurance industry, with strong emphasis on compliance within a regulated environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MAS regulatory requirements and local regulatory expectations.
  • Practical experience in compliance monitoring, regulatory engagement and regulatory reporting.
  • Understanding of underwriting processes, insurance products and insurance operations.
  • Experience reviewing processes and assessing compliance against defined regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Confidence to challenge and engage stakeholders appropriately on compliance matters.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and analytical problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • High integrity with sound judgement
  • Demonstrates mature judgement and the ability to navigate regulatory requirements with pragmatism, proportionality and credibility.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative team player, able to work independently with minimal supervision
