Corporate Innovation Programmes Intern

The Padang & Co story started with Singapore’s first major public hackathon, UP Singapore, in 2012.  Padang means green, open field in Malay.  Through Open Innovation, we bring people together, and create the occasions and environments for their creativity to flourish and innovation to emerge.

To catalyse these collaborations, and address more of Southeast Asia's challenges today and opportunities of tomorrow,  we curate thematic communities: Agriculture, Food, Health, Smart(er) Cities, and Sustainability.  These change the way we innovate to drive sustainable growth and meet the global Sustainable Development Goals.  By accelerating scalable, sustainable innovation, millions more people in the region are nourished, healthy, productive, and economically empowered.

What you would do 

As a full-time Corporate Innovation Programme Intern, you will support the Programme team.  You will experience firsthand various phases in the planning and execution of innovation events and programmes.  Your assigned focus areas could be based on your areas of interest or expertise. In your application, please elaborate your interest in Food & Agriculture, Smarter Cities, Health and/or Sustainability. 

Your Key Responsibilities 

• Execute programmes/project tasks
• Conduct research into technologies, startups, trends, or creative solutions to business briefs, and contact the relevant startups to participate in our events or programmes
• Help manage and curate a rich database of startups and innovative SMEs
• Support outreach campaigns, including researching and target communities and startups in the region and around the world, writing engaging content, etc.
• Assist in organising and facilitating a range of events (virtual, hybrid or physical), such as pitch/demo days, workshops, hackathons, etc.
• Contribute to our thought leadership pieces

Internship Outcomes

You will be exposed to and learn:

• What makes great startups
• What drives the growth of startup ecosystems in Southeast Asia and beyond, and how technology is shaping the future in various industries
• The functions of large corporations and organisations and their business challenges, and their innovation strategies
• Methodologies for corporate innovation as well as tools that support startup research
• Business skills in decision-making, project management, communication, presentation, event facilitation and management, etc.

Attributes we require of you 

We are looking for a team player with a can-do attitude, who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  You should have:

• An interest programme/project management, research and report writing
• An interest in technologies and startups
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Good attention to detail 
• Ability to contribute ideas and think independently

These are advantageous:

• Knowledge of the tech startup ecosystem
• Prior experience in research into technologies or startups
