Costing Engineer (Parts Costing)

Purpose: Provide the fabrication steps & process time to calculate the cost of the part.  This includes assessing whether the design provided is machinable, the availability of machines or tools to support the requirements and proposing cost-efficient methods.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Provide machining process steps for quote submission to determine process cost calculation.
• Review the part drawings & specifications provided and consider the critical dimensions or process.
• Identify machining issues and provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) slides to highlight issues; present an alternative proposal when possible.
• Generate a drawing/list of the requirements before sending the Request for Quote (RFQ) to suppliers.
• Inform suppliers of requirements & stipulate a cost breakdown list. Ensure that suppliers meet the specified timeline.
• Provide Part Cost estimation for Outsource Build to Print (BTP) parts for the Commodity team to use as a price reference.
• Mentor new hires on operations and part calculation processes to ensure they receive the information and guidance needed to perform their jobs effectively.
• Support and participate in company continuous improvement program.

Qualifications & Experiences:

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of working experience in the Semiconductor or High precision equipment industry, with relevance to cost will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Solidworks or other computer-aid design software.
• Application of measuring equipment and techniques.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
