Data Scientist

Employment Type: 1-year contract (renewable)

Requirement: Singaporean only, due to security clearance requirements.

The Role

The Data Scientist will design, develop, and implement cohesive data integration and advanced analytics solutions involving both structured and unstructured data. The role supports mission‑critical initiatives, including predictive modelling, forecasting, operations research (optimization), text mining and network analytics, particularly within regulated and public‑sector environments.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement data analytics and data science solutions to support client projects and business initiatives.

• Manage the end-to-end analytics lifecycle, including requirement gathering, data scoping, modelling, deployment, and monitoring.

• Conduct or support analytics workshops with business and technical stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical and data requirements.

• Participate in project meetings and stakeholder discussions to support project delivery.

• Develop, implement, and validate data science models with considerations for explainability, scalability, security, integration, and operational efficiency.

• Apply software development best practices, including documentation, coding standards, and SDLC processes.

• Prepare high-quality client deliverables, technical documentation, and governance-related artefacts.

• Independently manage assigned workstreams in a fast-paced project environment with minimal supervision.

• Research industry trends, emerging technologies, and public-sector / government business domains to support solution development.

• Contribute to reusable analytical frameworks, templates, reports, and presentation materials for future projects.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or equivalent.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Data Analytics / Data Science.

• Hands-on experience in data processing, feature engineering, hyper-parameter tuning, model validation, and data visualization.

• Strong experience with AWS SageMaker and Python tools/frameworks such as Pandas, NumPy/SciPy, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, and PySpark.

• Experience with Generative AI / LLM-based solutions (e.g. RAG, conversational analytics, knowledge assistants, document intelligence) is advantageous.

• Exposure to data engineering concepts including data ingestion, transformation, ETL pipelines, and data platforms / warehouses is preferred.

• Strong SQL skills with experience handling relational databases and large datasets.

• Familiar with software engineering best practices such as Git, CI/CD, code reviews, and test-driven development.

• Knowledge of object-oriented programming and applying it within data science pipelines.

• Ability to gather requirements, conduct analytics workshops, and translate business needs into actionable data solutions.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

• Able to work independently in a fast-paced and agile environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience supporting Government / public-sector projects is highly advantageous.

• Candidates with existing or eligible MSD Security Clearance (CAT 1) will be strongly preferred.

• Singaporean only due to security clearance requirements.
