Database Administrator

We are partnering with a leading global financial services firm that is looking to hire an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage a mission-critical multi-platform database environment across APAC and EMEA regions.

Based in Singapore and reporting to the DBA Manager in London, this role will play a key part in ensuring the resilience, performance, availability, and operational integrity of the organisation’s database estate. The successful candidate will work within a globally distributed DBA team supporting Development, UAT, and Production environments in a fast-paced 24/7 setting.

A major focus of the role will be Oracle performance tuning, high availability architecture, operational support, automation, and lifecycle management across enterprise database platforms.

1. Administer and support Oracle Exadata Cloud Service on Dedicated Infrastructure within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
2. Configure, maintain, and optimise databases supporting critical operational and trading systems
3. Perform database patching, upgrades, maintenance, and security hardening aligned with internal governance and regulatory standards
4. Provide L2/L3 production support, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation for database-related incidents
5. Drive Oracle database performance tuning initiatives including:
6. SQL tuning
7. AWR / ASH / ADDM analysis
8. Optimizer behaviour analysis
9. Execution path optimisation
10. Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and RMAN
11. Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and application support teams across APAC and EMEA
12. Contribute to database monitoring, observability, and automation initiatives
13. Support and maintain additional database technologies including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL where required
14. Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and architectural artefacts
15. Ensure adherence to internal controls, change management processes, and SOX compliance requirements

1. Strong experience as an Oracle DBA within mission-critical production environments
2. Hands-on expertise with:
3. Oracle Exadata
4. Oracle RAC
5. Data Guard
6. RMAN
7. Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture
8. Deep understanding of Oracle performance tuning and diagnostics
9. Experience with backup/recovery, failover, patching, upgrades, and database lifecycle management
10. Strong Linux administration and shell scripting experience
11. Experience working within regulated environments with exposure to risk and compliance controls
12. Comfortable operating within a global “follow-the-sun” support model
13. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across global teams

1. Exposure to OCI database services and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure capabilities
2. Experience across multiple database platforms such as:

4. PostgreSQL
5. MongoDB
6. MySQL
7. Familiarity with automation and infrastructure tooling such as:
8. Terraform
9. Ansible
10. OEM
11. OCI Native Monitoring
12. Exposure to cloud platforms including OCI, AWS, or Azure
13. Prior experience within financial services, trading, or other high availability / low latency environments is highly advantageous
