Project Description and Components:

This role focuses on driving the global expansion strategy and coordinating international efforts across teams. The Managing Director, International, will be responsible for defining market strategies, launching new markets, and establishing cohesive operations between headquarters and international offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Global Expansion Strategy:
  • Partner with executive leadership, go-to-market teams, and global affairs leadership to drive the global expansion strategy.
  • Develop and implement cohesive market strategies for newly launched markets.
  • Identify new markets for expansion and secure buy-in from various teams.
• Market Launch and Coordination:
  • Launch new markets and coordinate efforts across supporting teams.
  • Support the hiring of initial staff in new markets, including market leaders.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between headquarters and international offices.
• International Strategy and Operations:
  • Define and act as the centralizing force for international strategy across global affairs, go-to-market, communications, and other teams.
  • Develop global operating playbooks across functions.
  • Define the international organizational structure and the relationship between headquarters and international teams.

Deliverables:

• Open new international offices.
• Successfully execute market entry strategies that maximize value.
• Secure favorable entry terms into each market (e.g., tax credits).
• Hire a "launch team" in each market, including market leaders.
• Achieve target percentages for ex-US revenue and headcount.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and execute complex expansion plans.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
