Director, Rates Trader (AUD)

AUD Rates Trader – Singapore

Our client, a leading global bank, is seeking a seasoned AUD Rates Trader to join its Asia trading hub in Singapore. The role offers meaningful risk ownership, strong client interaction and is well suited to experienced traders currently in-seat or keen to re‑enter the market after a break.

• Market making and active risk management of AUD rates products for an institutional client base during Asian hours.
• Provide backup support across JPY, USD, SGD and EM rates products as needed.
• Conduct macro and market analysis to implement trading and hedging strategies aligned with desk views and risk limits.
• Manage positions and executions in full compliance with market‑making obligations, internal risk frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with sales, risk, operations and technology to ensure efficient pricing, smooth execution and timely issue resolution.
• Deliver clear market colour, trade ideas and product insights to internal stakeholders and key clients.

• Deep experience trading AUD (and ideally NZD) rates, with at least 8–10 years managing an IRS/CCS trading book.
• Strong knowledge of fixed income and derivatives, particularly interest rate swaps and cross‑currency swaps.
• Quantitative or numerate academic background (Finance, Economics, Maths, Engineering or similar) or equivalent technical skill set.​
• Demonstrated track record of commercial performance and disciplined risk management in a flow/market‑making environment.
• Strong communication skills, able to write coherent trading colour and present trade ideas to both traders and sales.​
• Collaborative mindset and confidence engaging with clients, sales, senior management and infrastructure teams.
