Director, Sourcing & Procurement Asia

Position Summary

The Director of Asian Sourcing & Procurement leads the company's strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier-development activities across Asia, building a competitive, high-quality supplier base across China, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and other strategic Asia markets. The Director drives cost competitiveness, private-label development, product quality, supplier performance, innovation, and supply-chain resilience in support of the company's growth strategy.

This is a senior commercial leadership position requiring deep knowledge of the automotive aftermarket and strong relationships with Asian manufacturers.

Responsibilities 

• Asian Sourcing Strategy — Develop and execute the long-term Asian sourcing strategy across China, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and other markets, shifting sourcing between countries to optimize cost, tariffs, capacity, and geopolitical risk.

• Private Label & Product Development — Lead sourcing for private-label and exclusive aftermarket programs — quotations, samples, tooling, and launch — and identify value-engineering opportunities without compromising quality.

• Cost & Commercial Management — Own supplier negotiations and landed-cost modeling (tooling, freight, duties, tariffs, FX); deliver annual cost-reduction and margin-improvement targets.

• Supplier Quality & Performance — Build strategic supplier relationships and qualification processes; run supplier scorecards and work with Quality on factory audits, PPAP, and corrective actions.

• Supply Chain Resilience & Risk Management — Identify and mitigate supplier, country, tariff, and geopolitical risks; build dual-source strategies and support working-capital optimization through improved MOQs and terms.

• Compliance & Responsible Sourcing — Ensure suppliers meet company standards for ethical sourcing, labor, and environmental compliance; maintain supplier agreements, NDAs, and traceability documentation.

• Leadership & Organization — Lead the existing Shanghai sourcing organization and build a new Singapore team; establish category strategies, targets, and KPIs, and develop local supplier-management capability.

Minimum Qualifications 

• 10–15+ years of progressive experience in automotive aftermarket sourcing, procurement, or supply chain.

• Significant experience sourcing directly from Asian manufacturers, with a strong supplier network in China and preferably India, Taiwan, Vietnam, or Thailand.

• Proven experience negotiating high-volume automotive aftermarket programs and delivering measurable cost savings.

• Experience with private-label product development and supplier qualification.

• Experience managing international teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel extensively throughout Asia.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Existing relationships with Tier 1/Tier 2 automotive aftermarket manufacturers.

• Experience with OE/OES specifications, supplier audits, and quality programs.

• Strong understanding of Incoterms, international logistics, tariffs, and landed-cost analysis.

• Mandarin or another Asian language is advantageous.
