The Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) is an independent non-profit dedicated to advancing sustainable finance and mobilising private capital toward positive social and environmental outcomes. Positioned at the intersection of wealth, sustainability, and systems change, CSP works with wealth holders, family offices, financial institutions, philanthropies, and next-generation leaders to help shape a more sustainable and resilient global economy.
Originally founded as part of the University of Zurich ecosystem and emerging from the Impact Investing for the Next Generation programme launched in 2015 at the Initiative for Responsible Investment at Harvard University, CSP has evolved significantly in response to the rapid global transformation of sustainable finance. Today, CSP operates as an independent foundation with a growing international platform and strategic partnerships across academia, finance, and the private wealth ecosystem.
CSP now works in close partnership with the University of St. Gallen (HSG), strengthening its academic and practitioner-based approach to research, executive education, and industry engagement. This evolution reflects CSP’s broader global mission: bridging rigorous academic insight with practical implementation for wealth owners and financial professionals navigating increasingly complex sustainability challenges and opportunities.
CSP remains deeply connected to the global private wealth and impact investing community through collaborations with leading investor networks such as Toniic and The ImPact, as well as partnerships with institutions including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and the University of St. Gallen.
The work of CSP addresses three barriers in steering capital to impact:
- Knowledge
- Capabilities
- Support networks
These barriers are addressed through:
- Research into the key questions of sustainable finance and private wealth
- Trainings that translate actionable insights into practice

- Financial intermediaries

- Other institutional players in the private wealth space
