Dr Yue Gen Hua Group: Assistant Research Officer / Research Officer

We are inviting applications for a highly motivated and dedicated researcher to join the dynamic research team of Dr Yue Gen Hua as an Assistant Research Officer/Research Officer. Our group focuses on cutting-edge studies in aquaculture genetics and plant genomics, with the overarching goal of accelerating genetic improvement for sustainable food production.

Key research areas

• Genetic improvements of food fish and agronomic plants.
• Investigating parasite resistance in fish using molecular and genomic approaches.
• Explore interactions between parasite resistance and gut microbes
• Participating in pilot projects on fish and plant genetics and genomics to support translational breeding efforts.

Role responsibilities

• Conduct independent research under the supervision of the PI/postdocs.
• Collaborate closely with postdoctoral fellows and other team members on experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
• Contribute to the development of novel genetic markers.

Qualifications and requirements

• Education: MSc or BSc (Hons) in Agriculture, Aquaculture, Biology, or a closely related field.
• Skills and attributes:
  - Strong ability to acquire new knowledge and adapt to evolving research directions.
  - Capacity to work both independently and as an effective team player within a multidisciplinary environment.
  - Good communication skills (written and verbal) in English
• Preferred experience: Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, vector construction or sequencing data analysis) is highly desirable.
