Client Introduction A well-established international financial institution is looking to hire an Application Support Engineer to join its Financial Markets technology team in Singapore. This role sits in a business-critical environment supporting front-office users and systems that are closely tied to FX trading activities across the region. It would suit someone who enjoys working close to the business, solving live issues, and keeping important trading applications stable and effective.
Job Responsibilities The successful candidate will support a suite of eFX and related trading applications used by front-office stakeholders in Asia. The role is primarily focused on day-to-day application support, troubleshooting, and operational stability, with some involvement in enhancements and DevOps-style change work. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting live eFX and related front-office applications used by FX traders and sales users
Investigating production issues, troubleshooting root causes, and driving resolution in a timely manner
Fixing bugs, handling data issues, and carrying out patching or remediation work on existing applications
Supporting small to medium enhancements and change requests for business-critical systems
Working closely with end users to understand issues and improve application effectiveness
Contributing to system reliability, monitoring, and selected cloud-related operational tasks
Following good practices around security, controls, and application stability within a banking environment
Job Requirements This role is suited to candidates who come from trading application support, production support, or similar financial markets technology environments. The hiring team is open on domain depth to a degree, but the ideal person will be able to ramp up quickly in a front-office setting. They are likely to look for:
Experience supporting trading, eFX, or other front-office financial markets applications
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a live production environment
Ability to work directly with business users such as traders or sales teams
Experience handling incidents, fixes, enhancements, and day-to-day application support activities
Exposure to DevOps, cloud operations, or application change work would be useful
Understanding of IT risk, controls, security, or secure development practices would be an advantage
Familiarity with tools such as KDB+ or Mosaic may be helpful, but this is not the core focus of the role
Why You Should Join Them This is a strong opportunity to join a respected financial institution in a role that offers direct exposure to front-office users and business-critical FX applications. The role gives the right person the chance to work in a visible environment, build strong financial markets technology experience, and take ownership of systems that are important to the day-to-day business. It would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving real problems, and working in a team where application reliability and user support genuinely matter.
