Job Purpose
The Environmental & Sustainability Assistant Manager leads the school’s environmental sanitation, regulatory compliance, and forward-looking sustainability frameworks. This role bridges strategic ESG planning with operational excellence by overseeing campus soft services (including cleaning, pest, and vector control) and driving environmental improvement projects. The Environmental & Sustainability Assistant Manager plays a vital role in embedding data-informed sustainability practices, and cultivating a green culture across the school community in alignment with national frameworks like GreenGov.SG.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic ESG & Sustainability Leadership: Develops, implements, and reviews the school's sustainability roadmaps and ESG strategies; drives carbon reduction, energy efficiency, waste minimization, and water conservation initiatives aligned with BCA Green Mark and GreenGov.SG standards.
Soft Services Contract & Performance Management: Directs and establishes service standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and performance KPIs for all soft services (cleaning, environmental sanitation, and waste management); establishes robust frameworks for logging findings, managing non-conformances, and tracking accountability with vendors; ensures all external contractor actions are tightly aligned with workplace safety regulations and school environment policies.
Audit Frameworks & Inspection Oversight: Conducts and oversees systematic quality audits and site inspections in accordance with NEA Environmental Sanitation Programme (ESP) regimes; ensures the rigorous maintenance of compliance documentation, including technical permits, site observation records, and structured photo logs to guarantee continuous audit readiness.
Integrated Pest & Vector Management: Oversees campus-wide pest control frameworks and vector management programmes; schedules, reviews, and provides tactical oversight for critical operational treatments (including fogging, larviciding, and oiling) while ensuring treatment logs and vector monitoring works fully satisfy statutory NEA compliance.
Project Management & Improvement Works: Leads environmental, sustainability, and facilities improvement projects from initial planning through to completion; ensures all works meet high-quality standards, strict regulatory compliance, approved budgets, and timelines.
Financial Stewardship & Budgeting: Formulates annual operating budget for the environmental, sustainability, and soft services unit; systematically monitors expenditures to ensure value-for-money and supports public sector procurement workflows.
Stakeholder Engagement & Sustainability Campaigns: Partners cross-functionally with academic departments, student groups, and external agencies to champion sustainability within the school community.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Actively explores, evaluates, and recommends technologies, systems and/or improved workflows to optimize resource deployment and enhance operational efficiency.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma holders with experience in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience
Demonstrated experience managing environmental or sustainability projects from planning through implementation.
Familiar with GreenGov.SG or BCA Green Mark.
Preferably with Environmental Control Coordinator (ECC) certification but not a must to have.
Preferably with public sector procurement experience.
