Equity Analyst (Asian Financials) Global Investment Management Firm, Singapore

Octavius Finance is partnering with a leading global long-only investment management firm to appoint a Senior Equity Analyst to cover Asian Financials. This is a senior buy-side research role covering Asian banking and broader financials stocks, with a focus on delivering alpha-generating insights across Korea, China, Taiwan, and wider Asian markets.

This opportunity is ideal for a highly experienced equity research analyst or long-only equities investor with deep expertise in fundamental analysis, financial modelling, and Asian financial markets. The role sits within a high-performing institutional investment platform who are a leading player in their field.

Key Responsibilities – Buy-Side Equity Research (Asian Financials)

1. Lead long-only equity research coverage of Asian banks and financial institutions
2. Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and investment theses
3. Produce high-conviction buy-side research reports, sector views, and thematic investment insights
4. Identify alpha opportunities across Asian financial markets and credit cycles
5. Monitor macroeconomic, monetary policy, and regulatory developments impacting bank stocks in Asia
6. Engage directly with senior management teams of covered companies and participate in investor meetings and roadshows – this role would require frequent travel across the region, including to Taiwan .
7. Collaborate with portfolio managers, global research teams, and investment strategists
8. Contribute to long-only portfolio recommendations and investment ideas
9. Provide thought leadership on Asian equity markets, banking sector trends, and risk-adjusted returns

Candidate Profile – Equity Research / Long-Only Equities Experience

1. Minimum 10+ years’ experience in equity research, investment analysis, or long-only asset management. Substantive buyside experience is strongly preferred, although strong sell-side candidates will also be considered.
2. Proven track record covering Asian Financials (banks strongly preferred)
3. Strong understanding of banking fundamentals, credit cycles, and financial regulation across Asia
4. Coverage experience across Korea, China, Taiwan, and broader Asian equity markets
5. Exposure to developed Asia markets preferred, with strong emerging markets or frontier financials experience also considered
6. Advanced financial modelling, valuation, and fundamental equity analysis skills
7. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate investment ideas clearly to institutional investors and portfolio managers
8. Existing relationships within the buy-side or institutional investor community advantageous
9. Ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative, high-performance long-only investment team
