Fleet Digitalization and Systems Manager/Senior Manager - Vessel

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Fleet Digitalization and Systems (Manager/Senior Manager) for one of our global shipping clients. You will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, integration, and optimization of digital technologies and systems on our client fleet of vessels. This role will focus on driving the digital transformation of fleet systems, leveraging telematics, fleet management software, IoT solutions, and data analytics to improve fleet performance, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidatewill have at least 10 years of experience overseeing technology-driven initiatives within the maritime industry, including for ship management and/or Fleet IT.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement new technologies relevant to vessel performance such as IoT systems, predictive maintenance, and remote monitoring systems. Oversee the entire deployment process from conceptualization to execution.
• Work closely with the PMS Manager and IT team to ensure existing systems (e.g. planned maintenance system, vessel reporting) are reliable, up-to-date, and able to meet business needs. Identify, evaluate and implement upgrades to drive performance improvement.
• Establish robust data collection mechanisms to gather insights into vessel performance, fuel consumption, maintenance needs, and environmental impact. Utilize data-driven insights to optimize vessel performance, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions.
• Manage technology providers, negotiate contracts, evaluate vendor performance, and ensure that the selected solutions meet the organization's needs and provide a strong ROI.
• Ensure that all technology implementations comply with maritime regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to ensure that PIL remains at the forefront of maritime technology.
• Lead and provide guidance to team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,Information Technology or Marine Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience overseeing technology-driven initiatives within the maritime industry, including for ship management and/or Fleet IT.
• Deep understanding of maritime operations, vessel systems, and regulatory requirements, with experience in vessel digitalization, automation, and remote monitoring technologies.
• Familiarity with Bassnet or similar fleet management systems is essential.
• Proficient in a wide range of digital technologies relevant to fleet management, such as IoT sensors, data analytics platforms, fleet management software, predictive maintenance systems, cybersecurity protocols, etc.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to extract actionable insights from large volumes of data generated by vessel sensors, performance metrics, and operation records.
• Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading technology projects from inception to completion, within budget and schedule constraints.
