Job Description - Fleet Operations Superintendent

This job responsibility of the role includes to oversee the vessel movements, crew changes, QHSE, procurement, agency, documentation, and statutory compliance and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the vessels under the control of the APAC regional office.

Role Accountabilities (What is this role responsible for delivering?)

Operations

· Conduct regular vessel visits.

· Manage and maintain effective employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.

· Required to travel to vessels and train the shore side staff in the new platform and be able to assist in the office during this period in order to demonstrate the systems and any queries they may encounter.

· Required to assist with the integration especially with the vessels and training of shore personnel.

· Perform regular internal audit, review and propose changes for improvement.

· Supervise operational activities which include liaising with local/ oversea agencies and authorities in regards of operation matters.

Budgeting

· Monitor all operational expenses and effect actions when necessary.

· Monitor and ensure that Company is getting the best/lowest rates from suppliers for its operational expenses such as hotel, airline tickets, transportation, etc. action when necessary.

Crew Manning

· Plan and execute relief schedule and transportation for crew (on-signers and off-signers) and coordinate with Swire Manning Offices on approval of Officers’ postings on-board vessels.

· Attend to crews’ injuries/ illness immediately.

· Initiate and coordinate the development of Officers’ as per personnel evaluation report (PEV) recommendations.

· Liaise with crewing team to coordinate on crew relief planning, crew’s movements, documentation and select the right qualified crew team for vessel operations, and act as an intermediary in disciplinary matters

· Liaise and resolve problems with internal and external contacts on a variety of matters, i.e. operational, manning requirement, immigration and port clearance issues, etc).

Team Management

· Manage the team including the Regional Company Security Officer(s) in APAC.

· Lead employees to meet the organisation's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment. Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the team in accordance with the organisation's policies and procedures.

· Plan staffing levels and work with HR to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ the right people within budgetary guidelines. Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.

· Consciously create an engaging workplace culture that emphasizes the identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organisation. Lead employees using a performance management and development process including goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.

· Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegate responsibility, drive accountability and provide regular feedback for continuous improvement.

People Management

· Actively champion professional and transparent communication and behaviour consistent with the Tidewater Values.

· Ensure effective resourcing is achieved in time and on budget and ensure the management of employees tasks and time is balanced and appropriate.

· Set the goals and manage the performance of team and individuals in line with department performance targets through the performance management process.

· Engage employees through coaching, mentoring, two-way communication and use of career and development tools and processes.

Safety

· Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e. Safety I’s & Accountability ladder).

· Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviours or unsafe conditions.

· Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Polices and Operating Procedures
