Purpose

To lead selected flavour development programs, ensuring the successful creation and optimization of flavours that meet customer requirements while integrating emerging technologies. This role defines tactical plans and drives process improvements within the flavour creation stream, contributing to customer satisfaction and business growth.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development for assigned categories, defining technical approach and supervising sample preparation to ensure quality and efficiency.


• Oversee flavour evaluations and sensory review processes; interpret data, define next steps, and guide junior team members.


• Collaborate with Senior and Principal Flavourists to set tactical objectives for flavour programs, aligning technical priorities with business goals.


• Drive optimization of digital tools for documentation and performance tracking, ensuring data accuracy and efficient information flow across teams.


• Serve as point of contact for complex formulation challenges, leading troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis to deliver timely solutions.


• Translate customer and market insights into actionable flavour strategies, ensuring alignment with growth objectives.


• Lead improvement initiatives to refine formulation processes, enhancing productivity and quality across flavour categories.


• Provide coaching and performance feedback to trainees and junior flavourists, supporting professional development and succession readiness.

Academic Background

• Polytechnic or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a flavourist after completing Flavourist Trainee Programme or an equivalent industry program.

Technical Skills

• Demonstrates advanced technical and process knowledge across flavour creation, sensory science, and application in key product categories


• Experience and a proven track record in beverage creation will be an advantage


• Capable of integrating data, analytics, and market insights into formulation decisions supporting customer growth.


• Proficient with digital and analytical platforms; drives their optimization to improve project efficiency.


• Understands related fields (ingredient technology, regulatory, consumer insights) and applies this knowledge to deliver comprehensive solutions.


• Leads process improvement initiatives across flavour development workflows, reducing lead times and enhancing quality consistency.


• Coaches team members on formulation standards and sensory methodology; contributes to technical training programs.
