Group Accountant - Urgent Hire

Job Overview

The Group Accountant key responsibilities include maintaining complete financial documentation and accounts for the group, ensuring compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements, and coordinating financial reporting across subsidiaries. The role also involves overseeing statutory audits, tax filings, and improving financial practices for better efficiency. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparing and maintaining proper documentation and a full set of accounts for entities within the Group, which includes coordinating with regional colleagues on their respective accounts.
• Provide timely and accurate group consolidated reporting in accordance with IFRS/SFRS and statutory guidelines.
• Coordinate with subsidiaries/associate companies on data requests and queries using common templates.
• Highlight any anomalies or variances that require investigation.
• Support subsidiaries/associate companies in forecast reporting and in their management accounts process.
• Provide accounting advice to colleagues and associate companies to ensure the common application of accounting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Assist the Finance Director in rolling out group-wide initiatives in the areas of corporate governance, internal key financial controls, compliance, and group policy.
• Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual financial audits and statutory reporting for the Group.
• Continuously review work practices and procedures to enhance operational efficiency (e.g., analyze expense trends and alert management of savings opportunities).
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Group Finance Director.

Requirements:

• Holds a degree in Accountancy or an equivalent certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CA.
• Possesses a minimum of 4 years of work experience in accounting, auditing, and/or handling group consolidations.
• Working knowledge of Xero is considered an advantage.
• Experience in ERP system implementation is highly valued.
• Background in working with an accounting firm, especially with an audit focus, is a plus.
