HBM Machinist

Job Title: HBM Machinist (Horizontal Boring Machine)

• Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Machines (HBM) to perform boring, drilling, milling, and facing operations on large components.
  

• Interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine appropriate machining operations.
  

• Align and secure workpieces using jigs, fixtures, and clamps for accurate machining.
  

• Select appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds based on the material and machining requirements.
  

• Monitor machine operations, make adjustments as needed, and inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments (vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.).
  

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines to ensure smooth operation.
  

• Maintain proper records of production logs, machine settings, and tool usage.
  

• Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and operational guidelines.
  

• Collaborate with the production and quality assurance teams to improve productivity and reduce rework.
  

Essential Qualifications:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating HBM or similar large-format CNC/manual machines.
  

Skills Required:

• In-depth knowledge of HBM machining techniques and practices.
  

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
  

• Familiarity with machine setup, alignment, and fixture techniques.
  

• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
  

• Understanding of cutting tool selection and machining parameters.
  

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  

• Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  

• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
