Head, Benchmark Management - Established Asset Manager

About Our Client:

Our client is an established asset manager with a strong footprint across Asia. As part of a firm-wide transformation programme, they are looking to appoint a lead for their benchmark function, covering strategy, governance, and vendor relationships across the group, with direct visibility to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build and lead the benchmark management team, setting the function's strategic direction and consolidating benchmark and market-data requirements across the group in partnership with investment teams
2. Take end-to-end ownership of the benchmark lifecycle, including onboarding, governance reviews, approvals, and data validation
3. Shape and deliver customised and composite benchmarks for performance, portfolio, and risk purposes, incorporating ESG exclusions, weight caps, and other constraints on the investable universe
4. Own resolution of data quality risks and manage related weight and allocation changes on the investment team's behalf
5. Manage vendor relationships and enterprise licensing agreements with index and data providers, acting as subject-matter expert in related procurement and cost optimisation decisions
6. Provide benchmark expertise and insights to stakeholders across investment, risk, and technology
7. Lead benchmark-related change initiatives, including system upgrades and process improvements

Requirements:

1. Minimum 10 years' experience in data management within the asset management sector
2. Solid grounding in benchmark oversight or performance analytics
3. Sound knowledge of how indices are constructed, including methodology and broader market context
4. Track record of managing relationships with data vendors and negotiating licensing terms
5. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and project delivery skills
6. Exposure to ESG integration and bespoke benchmark design would be advantageous
7. A CFA, FRM, or comparable qualification would be an advantage
