Head of Data Services

Job Summary

We are seeking an ambitious, commercially driven Head of Data Services to transform and scale SGX Group’s market data and analytics business. As Asia’s most international multi-asset exchange, our data is a strategic asset with significant potential to create new client value and scalable revenue.

In this dual-focus leadership role, you will own the data services P&L and lead the business through its next phase of growth, modernization, and commercial expansion, strengthening the core franchise while building new recurring revenue streams. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our data products—from our core multi-asset feeds (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, and Commodities) to advanced AI-driven analytics and intelligent data solutions—ensuring SGX remains at the forefront of the financial data landscape. Your mandate will be to make SGX data easier to discover, access, integrate, and commercialize at scale.

The successful candidate will lead the next phase of SGX's data business evolution, expanding beyond traditional market data distribution into scalable analytics, intelligence and AI-enabled solutions.

Job Responsibilities

Business growth & P&L Ownership

• Drive Revenue Growth: Own and execute the global strategy for SGX’s data services business, meeting and exceeding annual revenue, subscription, and distribution targets across all product lines.


• Scale Multi-Asset Sales: Grow the core market data franchise while accelerating adoption of higher-value analytics, derived data, cloud, and API-based services across direct and partner channels.


• Market Expansion: Drive the go-to-market strategy and sales for new intelligence products, derived data metrics, and bespoke institutional insights, with a focus on key Asian and international markets. Develop new commercial models.


• Strategic Client & Partner Engagement: Act as the senior commercial lead for key buy-side and sell-side clients, data vendors, regulators, and fintech partners, cultivating high-value enterprise relationships to drive adoption and co-innovation.

2. Data Product Strategy & Innovation

• Product Vision & Roadmap: Set and execute the strategic roadmap for all data services, aligning it with SGX’s broader digital transformation and cloud-first strategy. Balance short-term commercial delivery with long-term technological innovation.


• Launch New Data Services: Conceptualize, validate, and launch novel, revenue-generating data products by leveraging SGX's unique multi-asset data lake. Explore emerging opportunities in alternative data, cloud-delivered analytics, and AI-powered insights.


• Lifecycle Management: Own the full product lifecycle, from client discovery and business case approval through pricing, launch, adoption, performance measurement, and product rationalisation.


• Cross-Functional Execution: Partner closely with SGX’s Technology (Data & AI), Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless product delivery, licensing integrity, and adherence to regulatory frameworks.

3. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

• Lead a High-Performing Team: Build, mentor, and lead a world-class team of data product managers and commercial specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership and disciplined execution.


• Optimize Commercial Frameworks: Continuously refine pricing models, usage policies, and distribution agreements to simplify the client experience, accelerate sales, protect SGX intellectual property, and support new digital delivery models.


• Improve operating leverage: Simplify and automate data onboarding, contract administration, usage reporting, billing, compliance controls, and client support to improve scalability and time to revenue.

Job Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within an exchange, financial market infrastructure provider, or data-driven financial technology, including responsibility for business growth and transformation.


• Commercial Acumen: A proven track record of exceeding aggressive sales targets, managing a P&L, and structuring complex, enterprise-level commercial agreements in the market data industry.


• Product Expertise: Demonstrated success in taking sophisticated financial data products—particularly in analytics, indices, or AI/intelligent data solutions—from concept to successful commercialization.


• Strong contractual and commercial judgement, with demonstrated ability to structure and negotiate data licensing, distribution, and strategic partnership agreements, interpret complex obligations, and manage contractual risk.


• Deep Industry Knowledge: Expert understanding of multi-asset exchange data, licensing models, global distribution channels (direct feeds, extranets, cloud), regulatory environments, and evolving trends in institutional data consumption.


• Strategic Leadership: Experience leading and inspiring cross-functional teams, aligning sales, product, and technology resources toward a unified commercial and innovation strategy.


• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Law or a related quantitative field. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PhD) or relevant certification (e.g., CFA) is a strong plus.
