Job Description - Head of Learning & Development

Head of Learning & Development Overview

A leading organisation is seeking a Head of Learning & Development to lead enterprise learning strategy, design, and delivery. This role drives leadership capability, behavioural change, and long-term organisational effectiveness, working closely with senior stakeholders to translate strategy into structured, scalable learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Strategy & Architecture

  1. Define and lead the organisation’s learning strategy and frameworks
  2. Translate business priorities into structured learning journeys
  3. Design scalable, future-ready programmes grounded in modern learning principles

Faculty & Learning Excellence

  1. Set standards for facilitation, coaching, and learner experience
  2. Develop internal and external faculty capability
  3. Ensure consistency and quality across all programmes

Learning Platforms & Innovation

  1. Build and oversee a cohesive digital learning ecosystem
  2. Manage learning technologies, tools, and vendors
  3. Leverage data and emerging technologies to enhance outcomes

Measurement & Insight

  1. Establish frameworks to measure learning impact and behavioural change
  2. Generate insights to refine programmes and inform decisions
  3. Drive continuous improvement through data

Stakeholder Management

  1. Partner senior leadership on capability-building priorities
  2. Manage external partnerships with institutions and providers
  3. Represent the organisation with credibility and professionalism
Candidate Profile

Experience

  1. 10–15 years in Learning & Development, Organisational Development, or Talent Management
  2. Proven track record delivering enterprise-wide learning strategies
  3. Experience working with senior stakeholders and complex environments
  4. Strong exposure to digital and blended learning approaches

Capabilities

  1. Strategic and execution-focused
  2. Strong understanding of adult learning and leadership development
  3. High judgement, maturity, and stakeholder management
  4. Able to operate in complex, fast-moving environments
Education
  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  2. Relevant certifications in learning, coaching, or OD advantageous
