Job Responsibilities Overview of Division The Global Transaction Banking Department (GTBD) Seoul Desk serves as a strategic partner to Relationship Managers (RMs), driving the promotion and delivery of Transaction Banking solutions. We provide specialized expertise and deep insights into Cash Management and Trade Finance products. Structurally, the department operates under the APAC regional head and maintains a direct reporting line to GTBD Hong Kong and GTBD APAC, ensuring seamless regional integration.
Job Overview The incumbent will lead the Transaction Banking business for the Seoul Branch, representing the Global Transaction Banking Department (GTBD) Seoul Desk. Responsibilities include delivering tailored solutions in Trade Finance, Transaction FX, Cash Management, and Current Account deposits to target customers both locally and regionally. The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, IT vendors, government agencies, financial institutions, and legal counsel. As the leader of the GTBD Seoul desk, the incumbent will drive business growth for customers and develop strategic initiatives to expand Transaction Banking across Korea.
This role is based in South Korea, Seoul.
Key Responsibilities - Drive the identification, origination, structuring, execution and communication of Transaction Banking solutions to existing and prospective clients, both independently and in partnership with Corporate Banking, Project Finance, regional GTBD and any key stakeholders. Ensure solutions are replicated across the client base in Korea.
- Lead the development of Transaction Banking strategy for Korea, leveraging the Seoul Branch Corporate Banking strategy alongside GTBD APAC priorities and focus areas. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure effective strategy execution and alignment with business objectives.
- Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing and target client, proactively managing client portfolios through disciplined engagement both independently and in collaboration with Relationship Managers and product partners.
- Manage end-to-end delivery for GTBD solutions, including marketing and promotion, client pitches, product expertise, credit and transaction processing, coordination of internal workflows and deal closure arrangements.
- Collaborate with Product teams and other internal stakeholders to facilitate infrastructure enhancements and strengthen the product capabilities of GTBD solutions in Korea, working closely with regional GTBD and other relevant parties as needed.
Job Requirements - Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Transaction Banking, preferably in Transaction Banking Sales or Trade Sales within an international Bank. Exceptional expertise in Trade Finance products is essential. Knowledge of Cash Management is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage an established, well-developed network within the Korean market. Preference will be given to candidates with proven, high-level relationships with Korea's leading corporates, cultivated through prior professional roles.
- Outstanding commercial acumen, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proven capability to structure, negotiate and deliver innovative GTBD solutions that drive enhanced value for clients.
- Experienced in leading client pitches and crafting bespoke client proposals, including RFP responses, Presentation materials and Term Sheets.
- Skilled in managing deal documentation in collaboration with internal and external legal teams, including facility agreements, security documentation and registration, standard terms and conditions, and other facility-related documents relevant to GTBD solutions.
- Deep understanding of evolving industry trends and business dynamics within Transaction Banking, ability to stay abreast of market innovations.
- Strong credit analysis skills, including interpretation of financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow), familiarity with credit processes, rating systems, and related requirements.
