The HSE Advisor – Data reports directly to Senior HSE Manager, Shipping & Trading and supports the HSE and environmental data agenda for bp’s Supply Trading & Shipping activities.
For shipping, the IMO’s expectation to deliver a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 against a 2008 baseline is now a regulatory requirement for partners. bp’s ambition is bolder: we seek to be a #netzero company by 2050.
In conformance with bp Operating Management System (OMS) relevant requirements, the trading & shipping analyst will provide accurate data support to supply, trading & shipping in delivery of internal and external HSE & environmental reporting requirements, in line with relevant trading & shipping risks, regulatory aspects and HSE performance reporting.
Become part of a collaborative, multi-disciplined HSE team to work in support of a common agenda for supply trading & shipping and bp’s wider aims and ambitions.
Support the implementation of relevant OMS requirements: 3.6 Environment, 6.2 Energy, 7.1 Regulatory Compliance 8.1 reporting requirements.
Report shipping’s emissions, and environmental reporting requirements under ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) compliance, ship recycling, EU (European Union) monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) and IMO (International Maritime Organization) data collection system (DCS) schemes EU ETS and Fuel EU maritime.
Act as the HSE Subject Matter Expert (SME) for IRIS, offering frontline support to ship and office staff, and serving as the liaison between the bp Shipping fleet, ST&S, and the IRIS team to resolve technical issues and cascade communications.
Maintain and verify HSE timely performance data, investigate root causes of inconsistencies, and propose balanced solutions to improve data integrity and consistency across Supply, Trading & Shipping.
Review, analyse and understand safety data and trends to support development of HSE programs and influence HSE culture.
Support bp’s OSHA classification of injuries and illnesses in support of the Senior HSE Manager.
Deliver Power BI dashboards to support the business driving an in-depth understanding of their current HSE performance, identifying emerging issues, areas of opportunity and improvement to provide direction to develop and build insights from the analysis and improve performance.
Data for performance monitoring and evaluation of operated and chartered data and information management.
Support data requests for external environmental initiatives, incentives, and relevant reporting requirements, i.e. environmental ship index etc.
Custodian of the emission's garage digital data platform and its linkages to other shipping data platforms
Support maintenance of crucial reporting documentation in support of external audit requirements such as International Ship Management (ISM) and ISO14001
Responsible for the collation and timely submission of accurate mandatory internal and external reporting and verification requirements, including feedback and improvements to the business i.e., L_eap, EU (European Union) MRV, IMO (International Maritime Organization) DCS, environmental ship index, Fuel EU Maritime and Maritime EU ETS.
Support the team in preparation of accurate briefing materials for leadership, operational reviews, management reviews etc.
Provide input to support data analysis and environmental governance updates to colleagues across bp for compiling of annual reports.
Support line manager in any job-specific projects, as required.
Qualified either to a degree level, higher national diploma or an equivalent professional standard with suitable work experience. (equivalent experience may be considered)
Applicable HSE or environmental experience in the shipping/tanker industry, oil and gas industry, or a coordinated energy organisation comparable to bp
Familiarity with and dedication to the bp’s aims and ambitions, those related to protection of the environment.
Proven expertise in SharePoint, Microsoft Office applications, and related systems, with sophisticated skills in Excel and Power BI for data handling and visualisation.
Interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a multi-cultural and global business environment. Work setting will include coordination with shipboard personnel and shore based technical teams, trading teams, commercial originators, and business developers
Communication skills, both verbal and written
Building and maintaining positive relationships.
Good understanding of, and experience in, applying Operating Management System (OMS) framework requirements and bp’s policies, procedures and code of conduct.
NEBOSH or equivalent certificate
Awareness of international environmental legislation and conventions e.g., MARPOL, Basel Convention, EU (European Union) MRV.
OSHA reporting and categorization trained.
Capable of developing and running regular reports on safety data, risk trends (leading and lagging indicators), takeaways, and action closure.
