Interior Designer

Job Summary

Deliver comprehensive interior design solutions by conducting site assessments, developing concepts, preparing technical drawings, specifying materials, overseeing carpentry and renovation works, and managing project execution to ensure quality and timely completion. Basic Salary: SGD 3,000 + Commission based on Project Value

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial site visits and perform accurate measurements to inform design planning
• Engage clients to gather and clarify requirements including budget, style, and functionality
• Develop space planning and layout proposals that optimize usability and aesthetics
• Create mood boards and present design concepts to align with client vision
• Select appropriate materials, colors, and finishes to enhance design quality
• Produce 3D perspective drawings to visualize design concepts when applicable
• Implement design revisions within agreed rounds to meet client expectations
• Prepare detailed furniture layout plans to guide installation and placement
• Develop electrical layouts including lighting and power points for functional spaces
• Draft reflected ceiling plans to coordinate ceiling design elements
• Design plumbing layouts when applicable to integrate utilities seamlessly
• Create carpentry shop drawings to support custom built-in furniture fabrication
• Detail feature walls to add distinctive design elements
• Plan flooring layouts to ensure cohesive surface finishes
• Specify flooring materials such as tiles, vinyl, and marble for durability and style
• Select wall finishes including paint, wallpaper, textured finishes, and murals
• Choose ceiling finishes that complement overall interior design
• Specify carpentry laminates and solid surfaces for cabinetry and furniture
• Determine kitchen and wardrobe finishes to meet functional and aesthetic needs
• Select door hardware and ironmongery for quality and design consistency
• Design and oversee construction of built-in carpentry including kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, TV consoles, feature walls, storage and vanity cabinets, and custom shelving
• Manage renovation and construction works including hacking, dismantling, masonry, tiling, plumbing, electrical rewiring, lighting installation, ceiling works, painting, wallpaper/mural installation, and waterproofing where applicable
• Optionally select and style loose furniture such as sofas, dining tables, bed frames, curtains, blinds, decorative lighting, and soft furnishings to complete interior aesthetics
• Supervise site activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards
• Coordinate with contractors to align work progress and resolve issues promptly
• Monitor project timelines to ensure milestones and deadlines are met
• Conduct quality control inspections to maintain high standards of workmanship
• Provide regular progress updates to clients and stakeholders
• Manage project handover and address defect rectification to ensure client satisfaction
